Reference-based stochastic subspace identification for output-only modal analysis

TLDR
In this paper, a novel approach of stochastic subspace identification is presented that incorporates the idea of the reference sensors already in the identification step: the row space of future outputs is projected into the rowspace of past reference outputs.

Simultaneous seismic input and state estimation with optimal sensor placement for building structures using incomplete acceleration measurements

TL;DR: In this article , an optimal sensor placement algorithm (OSPA) is proposed for real-time unknown input and state estimation, which ensures the required system conditions are met. But, the algorithm requires strong* detectability.

In situ seismic testing for experimental modal analysis of civil structures

TL;DR: In this article , a novel excitation method for in situ experimental modal analysis (EMA) is presented, which consists of base excitation through ground accelerations generated through a large mobile shaker, a unique form of building excitation which has been studied to date.

Combining optimization methods with response spectra curve-fitting toward improved damping ratio estimation

TL;DR: In this paper, the power spectral density (PSD) of a given modal coordinate was found using a blind source separation (BSS) algorithm and a curve-fitting technique was developed that uses optimization to find the modal parameters that best fit each side spectra of the PSD.
