Reference-based stochastic subspace identification for output-only modal analysis

TLDR
In this paper, a novel approach of stochastic subspace identification is presented that incorporates the idea of the reference sensors already in the identification step: the row space of future outputs is projected into the rowspace of past reference outputs.

Operational modal analysis on a VAWT in a large wind tunnel using stereo vision technique

Nadia Najafi, +1 more
- 15 Apr 2017 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a 1-kW, 3-bladed vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) was tested in a wind tunnel at high wind and two high speed cameras provided displacement measurements at no wind speed interference.

Statistics and Identification of Mode-Dependent Structural Damping of Cable-Supported Bridges

TL;DR: This paper presents general characteristics of field-measurement modal damping of 31 cable-supported bridges in China, including 6 suspension bridges and 25 cable-stayed bridges, and it seems that the measured modAL damping increases with the increase of the root-mean-square values of structural accelerations.

Multisensor surveys of tall historical buildings in high seismic hazard areas before and during a seismic sequence

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the structural changes caused by the 2012 Emilia Romagna, Veneto and Lombardy earthquakes, which caused significant damage to several historical buildings and in some cases caused complete structural collapse.

A novel natural frequency-based technique to detect structural changes using computational intelligence

TL;DR: In this article, a Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm was used to detect structural changes in a set of experimental tests from a real structure using a computational intelligence method, and the results obtained on a historic tower show the capacity of the proposed methodology for damage identification and structural health monitoring.
