Wall stress analysis in an unsteady hopper flow with ellipsoidal particles

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of particle shape on the wall stress profile developed in a cylindrical hopper was investigated, and the results showed that due to the better flowabilities, spheres exert higher maximum stress on walls than ellipsoids.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silolasten nach der neuen DIN 1055‐6

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the Inhalt and the Hintergrunde der neuen DIN 1055-6 “Einwirkungen auf Silos and Flussigkeitsbehalter” berichtet.
Journal ArticleDOI

Predicting the critical outlet width of a hopper using a continuum finite element method model

TL;DR: In this paper, the critical outlet widths for continuous bulk solids flow were compared using the Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis. But, the results showed that the FEM model provided the best predictions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reducing hopper wall friction by mechanical vibration

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present theoretical and experimental evidence which indicates that a significant reduction in wall friction can be achieved by the proper use of applied vibrations, and some practical implications and applications of this reduced wall friction are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Image-based characterization of powder flow to predict the success of pharmaceutical minitablet manufacturing

TL;DR: A novel small-scale measuring technique for powder flow that was distinguished from others by its ability to classify different grades of microcrystalline cellulose in the die-filling process and showed a high repeatability.
