TLDR
A marked increase in the use of international datasets for more highly evidenced-based changes in staging, and the enhanced use of nonanatomic prognostic factors in defining the stage grouping are notable.Abstract:
The American Joint Committee on Cancer and the International Union for Cancer Control update the tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) cancer staging system periodically. The most recent revision is the 7th edition, effective for cancers diagnosed on or after January 1, 2010. This editorial summarizes the background of the current revision and outlines the major issues revised. Most notable are the marked increase in the use of international datasets for more highly evidenced-based changes in staging, and the enhanced use of nonanatomic prognostic factors in defining the stage grouping. The future of cancer staging lies in the use of enhanced registry data standards to support personalization of cancer care through cancer outcome prediction models and nomograms.read more

Periostin and CA242 as potential diagnostic serum biomarkers complementing CA19.9 in detecting pancreatic cancer.
TL;DR: It is suggested that POSTN and CA242 are potential diagnostic serum biomarkers complementing CA19.9 in detecting early pancreatic cancer.

TL;DR: A texture parameter of pretreatment CE-T1WI-based uniformity improves the prediction of PFS in NPC patients, suggesting a better predictive ability for PFS than the tumour volume or the overall stage alone.

Differentiation between malignant and benign thyroid nodules and stratification of papillary thyroid cancer with aggressive histological features: Whole-lesion diffusion-weighted imaging histogram analysis.
TL;DR: To explore the usefulness of whole‐lesion histogram analysis of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) derived from reduced field‐of‐view (r‐FOV) diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI) in differentiating malignant and benign thyroid nodules and stratifying papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) with aggressive histological features.
