Journal ArticleDOI

PET standardized uptake values of primary lung cancer for comparison with tumor volume doubling times.

TL;DR: An overall significant relationship between VDT, SUV and corrected SUV was demonstrated, however, the relationship was stronger for adenocarcinomas than for squamous-cell carcinomas, implying that the primary determinant for these relationships is histology and within each cell type, there are other factors that have strong influences.

Heterogeneity of stage IIIA non-small cell lung cancer—different tumours, different nodal status, different treatment, different prognosis: a narrative review

TL;DR: Independent of age, in medically fit (operable) patients with resectable stage IIIA tumours, an aggressive approach in a curative setting is key to obtain good overall survival rates and maintaining quality of life is essential.
Journal ArticleDOI

KCTD11 inhibits progression of lung cancer by binding to β-catenin to regulate the activity of the Wnt and Hippo pathways.

TL;DR: In this article, the expression of KCTD11 in 139 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissue samples was detected by immunohistochemistry, and its correlation with clinicopathological factors was analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alternatives to Surgery for Early-Stage Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: Stereotactic Radiotherapy.

TL;DR: Stereotactic body radiotherapy enables delivery of high-dose, precisely delivered radiation to early-stage lung cancers without surgical risk and can be considered in medically operable patients who refuse surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI

Peter Goldstraw, +142 more
TL;DR: The methods used to evaluate the resultant Stage groupings and the proposals put forward for the 8th edition of the TNM Classification for lung cancer due to be published late 2016 are described.

The IASLC Lung Cancer Staging Project: Proposals for the Revisions of the T Descriptors in the Forthcoming Eighth Edition of the TNM Classification for Lung Cancer

TL;DR: Recommendations are to subclassify T1 into T1a, T1b, and T1c, and to group involvement of main bronchus as T2 regardless of distance from carina; to group partial and total atelectasis/pneumonitis as T1; to reclassify diaphragm invasion as T4; and to delete mediastinal pleura invasion as a T descriptor.
