Human genetic and immunological determinants of critical COVID-19 pneumonia

Qian Zhang, +160 more
- 28 Jan 2022 -
TL;DR: In this article , the molecular and cellular determinants of critical COVID-19 pneumonia were reviewed and the TLR3- and TLR7-dependent production of type I interferons by respiratory epithelial cells and plasmacytoid dendritic cells, respectively, is essential for host defence against SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tuberculosis and impaired IL-23–dependent IFN-γ immunity in humans homozygous for a common TYK2 missense variant

Stéphanie Boisson-Dupuis, +94 more
- 21 Dec 2018 -
TL;DR: Homozygosity for the catalytically inactive P1104A missense variant of the TYK2 Janus kinase selectively disrupts the induction of IFN-γ by IL-23 and is a common monogenic etiology of tuberculosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Humans with inherited T cell CD28 deficiency are susceptible to skin papillomaviruses but are otherwise healthy

Vivien Béziat, +80 more
- 08 Jul 2021 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a patient with the human papilloma virus (HPV)-2-driven "treeman" phenotype and two relatives with unusually severe HPV4-driven warts were found to be unexpectedly homozygous for a private CD28 variant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis and connective tissue disorder in humans with impaired JNK1-dependent responses to IL-17A/F and TGF-β

TL;DR: It is indicated that the integrity of the human JNK1-dependent MAPK signaling pathway is essential for IL-17A– and IL- 17F–dependent mucocutaneous immunity to Candida and for the TGF-β–dependent homeostasis of connective tissues.
