Global distribution of earthworm diversity

Helen Phillips, +145 more
- 25 Oct 2019 -
TL;DR: It was found that local species richness and abundance typically peaked at higher latitudes, displaying patterns opposite to those observed in aboveground organisms, which suggest that climate change may have serious implications for earthworm communities and for the functions they provide.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bacterial indicator of agricultural management for soil under no-till crop production.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the ratio between the normalized abundance of a selected group of bacteria within the GP1 group of the phylum Acidobacteria and the genus Rubellimicrobium of the Alphaproteobacteria may serve as a potential management-indicator to discriminate between sustainable vs. non-sustainable agricultural practices in the Pampa region.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of three different land management practices on soil mite (Arachnida: Acari) densities in relation to a natural soil

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of three different land management practices on soil mite density in temperate agroecosystems of Cordoba, Argentina, in comparison with a natural soil was evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Organic farming fosters agroecosystem functioning in Argentinian temperate soils: Evidence from litter decomposition and soil fauna

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of organic farming versus conventional farming on litter decomposition was compared under different field conditions by measuring weight loss in litter bags and assessing their abundances in the soil.
