Genome sequence and analysis of the Irish potato famine pathogen Phytophthora infestans.

Brian J. Haas, +102 more
- 17 Sep 2009 -
TL;DR: The sequence of the P. infestans genome is reported, which at ∼240 megabases (Mb) is by far the largest and most complex genome sequenced so far in the chromalveolates and probably plays a crucial part in the rapid adaptability of the pathogen to host plants and underpins its evolutionary potential.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changing a Generation’s Way of Thinking: Teaching Computational Thinking Through Programming:

TL;DR: Computational thinking (CT) uses concepts that are essential to computing and information science to solve problems, design and evaluate complex systems, and understand human reasoning and behavior as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Irish potato famine pathogen Phytophthora infestans originated in central Mexico rather than the Andes

TL;DR: The hypothesis that populations found in the Andes are descendants of the Mexican populations and reconcile previous findings of ancestral variation in theAndes is supported, as well as the harnessing of plant disease resistance to manage late blight.
