TL;DR: This paper deals with the demodulation of the current signal of an induction motor driving a multistage gearbox for its fault detection.
Abstract: Demodulation of vibration signal to detect faults in machinery has been a prominent prevalent technique that is discussed by a number of authors. This paper deals with the demodulation of the current signal of an induction motor driving a multistage gearbox for its fault detection. This multistage gearbox has three gear ratios, and thus, three rotating shafts and their corresponding gear mesh frequencies (GMFs). The gearbox is loaded electrically by a generator feeding an electrical resistance bank. Amplitude demodulation and frequency demodulation are applied to the current drawn by the induction motor for detecting the rotating shaft frequencies and GMFs, respectively. Discrete wavelet transform is applied to the demodulated current signal for denoising and removing the intervening neighboring features. Spectrum of a particular level, which comprises the GMFs, is used for gear fault detection

TL;DR: In this paper, a multiobjective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) method is used to solve the complex nonlinear optimization problem of load flow in power transmission networks, which considers the voltage and frequency dependence of loads and generator regulation characteristics.
Abstract: This paper presents an effective method of congestion management in power systems. Congestions or overloads in transmission network are alleviated by generation rescheduling and/or load shedding of participating generators and loads. The two conflicting objectives 1) alleviation of overload and 2) minimization of cost of operation are optimized to provide pareto-optimal solutions. A multiobjective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) method is used to solve this complex nonlinear optimization problem. A realistic frequency and voltage dependent load flow method which considers the voltage and frequency dependence of loads and generator regulation characteristics is used to solve this problem. The proposed algorithm is tested on IEEE 30-bus system, IEEE 118-bus system, and Northern Region Electricity Board, India (NREB) 390-bus system with smooth as well as nonsmooth cost functions due to valve point loading effect.

TL;DR: A facile route has been developed to synthesise and isolate sulphur doped fluorescent carbon dots for the first time, which have a strong potential for use in bioimaging applications and can easily bind with positively charged DNA-PEI complexes.
Abstract: A facile route has been developed to synthesise and isolate sulphur doped fluorescent carbon dots for the first time. Such carbogenic quantum dots exhibit a wide band gap of 4.43 eV with a high open circuit voltage (VOC) of 617 mV along with a fill factor (FF) as high as 37%, using phenyl-C60-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) as the electron transporting layer. Besides the wide band gap, which is useful in the fabrication of solar cells, sulphur modified carbon dots also exhibit a high fluorescence quantum yield of 11.8% without any additional surface passivation, producing a unique fluorescent probe for further applications. In addition, the particles have a strong tendency to interact with the surface of gold nanoparticles and produce a thin fluorescent layer over their surfaces. Moreover, as they are completely biocompatible in nature, the highly fluorescent S-doped carbon dots have a strong potential for use in bioimaging applications. Interestingly, owing to the presence of oxygen and sulphur functionality, the highly negatively charged particles can easily bind with positively charged DNA–PEI complexes, simply by mixing them, and after interaction with DNA, bright blue fluorescence has been observed under an excitation wavelength of 405 nm .

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of micro-and minichannel heat exchangers as heat sinks and heat exchanger has been presented, and the persisting lacunae of this technology drawn from the review have been pointed out.
Abstract: Depleting energy resources have become the driving force for their conservation. Increasing the system efficiencies is one method by which sustainability of energy may be ensured, for which miniaturization has successfully provided solutions. Miniature heat exchangers, owing to their high thermal performance, have the potential to provide energy efficient systems. In addition, their characteristics of compactness, small size and lesser weight have attracted widespread applications. Various works on micro- and minichannel heat exchangers as heat sinks and heat exchangers have been reviewed in this paper. Currently employed fabrication techniques and different applications have been summarized. An overview of the single-phase thermo-hydraulic studies in micro- and minichannel heat sinks has been presented. Literatures related co-current, counter-current and cross-current micro- and minichannel heat exchangers have been discussed. Finally, the persisting lacunae of this technology drawn from the review have been pointed out.

TL;DR: In this study, available literature on various databases, different features and classifiers have been taken in to consideration for speech emotion recognition from assorted languages.
Abstract: Speech is an effective medium to express emotions and attitude through language. Finding the emotional content from a speech signal and identify the emotions from the speech utterances is an important task for the researchers. Speech emotion recognition has considered as an important research area over the last decade. Many researchers have been attracted due to the automated analysis of human affective behaviour. Therefore a number of systems, algorithms, and classifiers have been developed and outlined for the identification of emotional content of a speech from a person's speech. In this study, available literature on various databases, different features and classifiers have been taken in to consideration for speech emotion recognition from assorted languages.
