TL;DR: The dynamic resources provisioning and monitoring system is presented, a multi-agent system to manage the cloud provider’s resources while taking into account the customers’ quality of service requirements as determined by the service-level agreement (SLA).
Abstract: The cloud computing paradigm provides a shared pool of resources and services with different models delivered to the customers through the Internet via an on-demand dynamically-scalable form charged using a pay-per-use model. The main problem we tackle in this paper is to optimize the resource provisioning task by shortening the completion time for the customers' tasks while minimizing the associated cost. This study presents the dynamic resources provisioning and monitoring (DRPM) system, a multi-agent system to manage the cloud provider's resources while taking into account the customers' quality of service requirements as determined by the service-level agreement (SLA). Moreover, DRPM includes a new virtual machine selection algorithm called the host fault detection algorithm. The proposed DRPM system is evaluated using the CloudSim tool. The results show that using the DRPM system increases resource utilization and decreases power consumption while avoiding SLA violations.

TL;DR: In this article, a set of experiments designed to begin the characterization of surface quality for the end-milling process have been performed and a multiple regression model was developed to develop a better understanding of the effects of spindle speed, cutting feed rate and depth of cut on the surface roughness.
Abstract: A set of experiments designed to begin the characterization of surface quality for the end-milling process have been performed. The objective of this study is to develop a better understanding of the effects of spindle speed, cutting feed rate and depth of cut on the surface roughness and to build a multiple regression model. Such an understanding can provide insight into the problems of controlling the finish of machined surfaces when the process parameters are adjusted to obtain a certain surface finish. The model, which includes the effect of spindle speed, cutting feed rate and depth of cut, and any twovariable interactions, predicted the surface roughness values with an accuracy of about 12%.

TL;DR: High yields were obtained for early sowing, high plant density, and high phosphorus application rate, and yield and yield components were not affected by ethephon application 30 days after sowing.
Abstract: Lentil (Lenus culinaris Medik) is a major grain legume crop in many developing countries in West Asia, North Africa and many other areas of the world. The effects of sowing date (1 January, 15 January and 2 February), plant density (80, 100 and 120 plants m -2 ), phosphorus level (0, 17.5, 35.0 and 52.5 kg Pha -1 ) and ethephon application [(1500 p.p.m. ethephon (2-chloroethel phosphonic acid) applied 30 days after sowing] were investigated in the semiarid region in the north of Jordan. High yields were obtained for early sowing (1 January), high plant density (120 plants m -2 ), and high phosphorus application rate (52.5 kg P ha -1 ). Yield and yield components were not affected by ethephon application 30 days after sowing.

TL;DR: Costochondral graft as a reconstruction material and temporalis muscle as an interpositional material showed comparable success rates when treating TMJ ankylosis in 22 children.
Abstract: Summary Introduction The aim of this study was to report Jordanian experience in surgical treatment of TMJ ankylosis in 22 children. Patients and methods This retrospective clinical study included children who were diagnosed with TMJ ankylosis and were treated in a dental teaching centre between 1993 and 2001. Patients underwent the release of 24 temporomandibular joint ankyloses and two different surgical techniques were used: either reconstruction of the condyle using costochondral grafts, or using the temporalis muscle as an interpositional material. Patients were followed up for 1–8 years. Results Twenty-two children (13 males and 9 females) were included in the study. Costochondral grafts were used as a reconstruction material in 16 TMJs (67%), whilst temporalis muscle was used as an interpositional material in 8 joints (33%). The mean preoperative maximum interincisor distance was 6.6 mm±1.3, which was increased to a mean of 30.3 mm±2.5 postoperatively. Two female patients (9%) suffered recurrence of the ankylosis within 6–12 months postoperatively. In one of these, a costochondral graft was used and temporalis muscle interposition in the other. Conclusion Costochondral graft as a reconstruction material and temporalis muscle as an interpositional material showed comparable success rates when treating TMJ ankylosis in 22 children.
