Abstract: A 50% enhancement in the conversion efficiency (4.9−7.37%) is realized in dye-sensitized solar cells using hydrothermally synthesized TiO2−multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposites as compared to hydrothermally synthesized TiO2 without MWCNT and Degussa P25. Several characterizations have been employed to reveal the nature of the modification imparted to the MWCNTs under hydrothermal processing conditions and the resulting TiO2−MWCNT conjugation through −COOH groups. Efficient charge transfer in the nanocomposite and efficient electron transport by MWCNT (significantly higher incident-photon-to-current conversion efficiency) are suggested to be the possible reasons for the enhancement.

Abstract: Aims. Nonlinear behaviour of galactic dynamos is studied, allowing for magnetic helicity removal by the galactic fountain flow. Methods. A suitable advection speed is estimated, and a one-dimensional mean-field dynamo model with dynamic α-effect is explored. Results. It is shown that the galactic fountain flow is efficient in removing magnetic helicity from galactic discs. This alleviates the constraint on the galactic mean-field dynamo resulting from magnetic helicity conservation and thereby allows the mean magnetic field to saturate at a strength comparable to equipartition with the turbulent kinetic energy.

Abstract: We report here, for the first time, synthesis of anchored Pd complexes in mesoporous supports such as MCM-41 and MCM-48 as true heterogeneous catalysts for hydrocarboxylation of aryl olefins and alcohols to give excellent conversion (∼100%) and regioselectivity (∼99%) for 2-arylpropionic acids. The catalysts were characterized by powder-XRD, 31P CP-MAS NMR, FT-IR, TEM, XPS and ICP-AES. Recycle studies with these anchored Pd mesoporous catalysts were performed to confirm true heterogeneity.
