TL;DR: The paper summarizes the results of an experiment conducted among members of a volunteer online access panel in Russia, who were asked to complete the survey using a mobile device and finds that the scrolling design leads to significantly faster completion times, lower breakoff rates, fewer technical problems, and higher subjective ratings of the questionnaire.
Abstract: There is some evidence that questionnaire design (scrolling or paging) and invitation mode (SMS or e-mail) have an impact on response rates in web surveys completed on personal computers (PCs). This paper examines whether these findings can be generalized to mobile web surveys. First, we explore the effect of scrolling versus paging design on the breakoff rate, item nonresponse, and completion time in mobile web surveys. Second, we investigate which type of invitation and reminder mode (SMS or e-mail) is more effective in terms of producing higher participation rates and maximizing the percentage of respondents who complete the survey via a mobile device rather than a PC. The paper summarizes the results of an experiment conducted among members of a volunteer online access panel in Russia, who were asked to complete the survey using a mobile device. We find that the scrolling design leads to significantly faster completion times, lower (though not significantly lower) breakoff rates, fewer technical problems, and higher subjective ratings of the questionnaire. We also find that SMS invitations are more effective than e-mail invitations in mobile web surveys.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examine the impact on the quality of a securities market of hiding versus displaying orders that provide liquidity, and suggest that market innovations, which might seem to favor the informed over the uninformed, can enhance market quality by intensifying competition among the informed.
Abstract: We examine the impact on the quality of a securities market of hiding versus displaying orders that provide liquidity. Display expropriates informational rents from informed agents who trade as liquidity providers. The informed then exit liquidity provision in favor of demanding liquidity where they trade less aggressively. Trading costs to uninformed liquidity demanders are higher, bid-ask spreads are wider, and midquotes are less informationally efficient when orders that provide liquidity are displayed. Our analysis suggests that market innovations, which might seem to favor the informed over the uninformed, can enhance market quality by intensifying competition among the informed. The Author 2013. TL;DR: The current review addresses this lack of assessment tools by providing conceptual and statistical guidance for the development of aphasia assessment tools and establishment of their psychometric properties by addressing the pitfalls of translating an existing test into a new language versus creating a new test.
Abstract: Background: There are a limited number of aphasia language tests in the majority of the world's commonly spoken languages. Furthermore, few aphasia tests in languages other than English have been standardised and normed, and few have supportive psychometric data pertaining to reliability and validity. The lack of standardised assessment tools across many of the world's languages poses serious challenges to clinical practice and research in aphasia. Aims: The current review addresses this lack of assessment tools by providing conceptual and statistical guidance for the development of aphasia assessment tools and establishment of their psychometric properties. Main Contribution: A list of aphasia tests in the 20 most widely spoken languages is included. The pitfalls of translating an existing test into a new language versus creating a new test are outlined. Factors to be considered in determining test content are discussed. Further, a description of test items corresponding to different language functions i...

TL;DR: In this paper, the existence of multivalued Lipschitzian superposition operators acting on set-valued mappings of essential or generalized variation is studied, and a Castaing-type representation is obtained.
Abstract: The paper presents recent results concerning the problem of the existence of those selections, which preserve the properties of a given set-valued mapping of one real variable taking on compact values from a metric space. The properties considered are the boundedness of Jordan, essential or generalized variation, Lipschitz or absolute continu- ity. Selection theorems are obtained by virtue of a single compactness argument, which is the exact generalization of the Helly selection prin- ciple. For set-valued mappings with the above properties we obtain a Castaing-type representation and prove the existence of multivalued se- lections and selections which pass through the boundaries of the images of the set-valued mapping and which are nearest in variation to a given mapping. Multivalued Lipschitzian superposition operators acting on mappings of bounded generalized variation are characterized, and so- lutions of bounded generalized variation to functional inclusions and embeddings, including variable set-valued operators in the right hand side, are obtained. Bibliography contains 113 items.
