TL;DR: The results of the examined germplasm regarding disease resistance gene alleles could be helpful for breeders who are looking for sources of disease resistance genes.
Abstract: Biotic stress conditions are the most serious obstacle in bread wheat cultivation resulting in yield reduction and safety problems (toxin production) for consumers. For this reason, identification of resistant cultivars and their respective genes is a main prerequisite in most breeding programs. Into this study and in order to exploit the benefits of molecular technology, 9 Hellenic and 93 Ukrainian bread wheat cultivars were analyzed to determine the responsible alleles for some important diseases in wheat. Among the Hellenic cultivars, carriers of resistance-associated alleles of the Lr34/Yr18/Pm38/Sr57/Bdv1 (a rare gene among the European bread wheat cultivars), Tsn1, Tsc2, and TDF_076_2D genes were identified. Four of the studied Hellenic cultivars carry the 1BL.1RS wheat-rye chromosome translocation of the ‘Kavkaz’ type proved to be resistant to the stem rust and especially to the dangerous Sicilian race TTTTF due mainly to the presence of the Sr31 gene. Among the Ukrainian cultivars, the toxin A insensitivity allele of the Tsn1 gene is predominant. Οf the nine Ukrainian spring cultivars containing wheat-rye translocations, seven were found to possess the 1BL.1RS and two the ‘Amigo’-type 1AL.1RS translocation. The previous two cultivars carry the gene Sr1RSAmigo conferring resistance to dangerous stem rust Ug99 biotypes. One cultivar (‘Vyshyvanka’) was found to carry a 1BL.1RS translocation distinct from 1BL.1RS of the ‘Kavkaz’ type and may carry novel rye disease resistance genes. The results of the examined germplasm regarding disease resistance gene alleles could be helpful for breeders who are looking for sources of disease resistance genes.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the annual inflow of legal immigrants in Greece the last 6 years, 2007-2012, on the basis of the demand of Greek employers for seasonal immigrant labor in provenance from non European Union countries.
Abstract: The paper investigates the annual inflow of legal immigrants in Greece the last 6 years, 2007–2012, on the basis of the demand of Greek employers for seasonal immigrant labor in provenance from non European Union countries. This process is determined by the new legislative framework described by the Law 3386/2005 on the entrance, accommodation and social integration of third country nationals in the Greek territory.

TL;DR: The experimental procedure largely verified the validity of the theory of probability in on-demand irrigation networks as mentioned in this paper, and the new demand formula approximates better the irrigation water demand in the peak consumption period.
Abstract: The experimental procedure largely verified the validity of the theory of probability in on-demand irrigation networks. The irrigation water demand, during periods of high requirement, in the region’s network of the irrigation pumping station Σ9, in the three years from 1988 to 1990, followed the five distributions: Erlang, gamma, lognormal, normal, and Weibull, in four of the total six data sets. The Erlang, gamma, lognormal, and Weibull distributions fit well to four data sets of the years from 1988 to 1990, whereas the normal distribution fits well also to four data sets but only of the two year period 1988–1989. The new demand formula approximates better the irrigation water demand in the peak consumption period. In a network with conduit of very small slope and use of self-propelled sprinklers with operating characteristics adapted to the hydraulic conditions of the network, the population of outlets may be uniform in the provision without a flow limiter, when there is discipline among the us...

TL;DR: This study is one of the first efforts on field testing of phase balancing through load management in residential and commercial buildings to quantify the impact of corrective management actions on phase loadings.
Abstract: Current demand response (DR) programs are designed for wholesale markets and utility level issues, neglecting the local challenges that distribution network operators face during daily operations. On the other hand, deployment of DR in specific parts of a distribution network can enable additional services and benefits. Phase balancing, as a distribution system management requirement, is among them. This study is one of the first efforts on field testing of phase balancing through load management in residential and commercial buildings. Tests were conducted in an experimental facility to quantify the impact of corrective management actions on phase loadings.

TL;DR: The Synchronous Asynchronous Tele education Platform (S.A.T.E.P) as mentioned in this paper is a software application for educational purposes, with a lot of parametrizing features written entirely from scratch.
Abstract: S.A.T.E.P. means Synchronous Asynchronous Tele education Platform is a software application for educational purposes, with a lot of parametrizing features written entirely from scratch. It aims at the training and examination of computer skills, a platform that can be adjusted to the needs of each lesson. In the application the trainer and the administrator can define the number of the lectures and upload files for each one of them. Furthermore, he can insert, modify and delete questions which are used for evaluation tests but also for the trainees examinations. The trainee can read and download the files of each lesson and also test his knowledge on what he has studied through a series of questions. A chat module where registered users as well as system administrator can discuss and solve questions is also developed.
