Abstract: The proliferation and advance of Internet-based technologies create expanded opportunities for educators to provide students with better learning experiences. Although current studies focus mostly on the learning processes and learning outcomes, this article examines the students' usage behaviour with Internet-based learning technologies across time. A research model of continued usage of Internet-based learning technologies was developed by extending the information systems (IS) continuance model. Specifically, the research model attempted to explain the fact that frequently performed behaviours tend to be automatic over time, and habit was posited as a moderating effect on determining student's continued use of the Internet-based learning technologies. The proposed research model was empirically validated using a longitudinal survey of the use of Internet-based learning technologies among student subjects. The research model explained 20% of the variance in IS continuance usage and 50% of the variance in IS continuance intention. Habit was found significantly moderating the relationship between IS continuance intention and IS continuance usage. The article concludes with a discussion on the implications of results for research and practice.

Abstract: We propose and experimentally demonstrate the nonlinear Talbot effect from nonlinear photonic crystals. The nonlinear Talbot effect results from self-imaging of the generated periodic intensity pattern at the output surface of the crystal. To illustrate the effect, we experimentally observed second-harmonic Talbot self-imaging from 1D and 2D periodically poled LiTaO(3) crystals. Both integer and fractional nonlinear Talbot effects were investigated. The observation not only conceptually extends the conventional Talbot effect, but also opens the door for a variety of new applications in imaging technologies.

Abstract: Recent researchers have drawn attention to fruit preferences in a variety of primates;for instance, in 1991, Davies noted that monogastric primates prefer the flesh of succulent, sugar-rich fruits, while colobines more often consume and digest large seeds of drier fruits. I compare fruit preferences in four sympatric primates— Hylobates lar, Macaca fascicularis, Pongo pygmaeus,and Presbytis thomas—which I studied concurrently at the Ketambe Research Center in northern Sumatra. I collected continuous focal animal data during 40–50 hr per taxon per month for 10 months and recorded fruit species size,pH, and descriptive attributes, including degree of ripeness, hardness, pericarp type, and number of seeds. The langurs prefer dry fruit seeds while the monogastric primates more often consume acidic, succulent fruit flesh. Further, H. lar, M. fascicularis,and P. pygmaeusvary significantly in preferences for fruits vis-a-visthe characteristics examined.

Abstract: Publishing in top journals is difficult. Common challenges undermine authors' attempts to explain and influence their discipline's understanding and practice. We identify and describe these roadblocks to publishing success. We also benchmark best practice in management, marketing, and supply chain journals to provide a trail guide for writing—and publishing—influential conceptual, qualitative, and survey research. Given equifinality in research, our trail guide should not be viewed as the only way to craft excellent, influential research. However, if we agree on the basics, we can (1) increase consistency in the review process, (2) reduce publication cycles, and (3) begin to roll back the length of articles.
