TL;DR: Sensory attributes and chemical composition in peach and nectarine fruits of nine different cultivars were evaluated and compared and compared as discussed by the authors, and the results indicated that sensory evaluation provides a good tool in the quick assessment of peach and Nectarine fruit quality.
Abstract: Sensory attributes and chemical composition in peach and nectarine fruits of nine different cultivars were evaluated and compared The cultivars investigated in the research were: 'Maria Marta', 'Romestar', '325 x A/8', '224 x A/13', 'V x S/4', 'Bea', 'Maria Aurelia', 'Venus' and 'Spring Red' In sensory evaluation the 'Maria Aurelia' was the highest rated, and the '224 x A/13' was the lowest The cultivars '325 x A/8', '224 x A/13', 'V x S/4' and 'Spring Red' were poor in sugars; however, the 'Spring Red' was rich in organic acids Similarly, the 'Maria Aurelia' and 'Venus' fruits had higher contents of organic acids and were also rich in sugars Furthermore, the relationships among sensory and chemical attributes of fruit quality were studied The sensory evaluations of sweetness, taste, and aroma were well correlated with some chemically measured attributes of peach and nectarine quality: sweetness was influenced by citric acid, shikimic acid and sugars/organic acids ratio; aroma was correlated with total organic acids, sucrose, sorbitol and malic acid; taste was related to malic/citric acid ratio, total sugars, sucrose, sorbitol and malic acid The results of the research indicate that sensory evaluation provides a good tool in the quick assessment of peach and nectarine fruit quality

TL;DR: The findings indicate that BDA capability along with organizational readiness and design factors facilitated better utilization of BDA in manufacturing decision making, and thus enhanced high value business performance.
Abstract: Big Data Analytics (BDA) is an emerging phenomenon with the reported potential to transform how firms manage and enhance high value businesses performance The purpose of our study is to investigate the impact of BDA on operations management in the manufacturing sector, which is an acknowledged infrequently researched context Using an interpretive qualitative approach, this empirical study leverages a comparative case study of three manufacturing companies with varying levels of BDA usage (experimental, moderate and heavy) The information technology (IT) business value literature and a resource based view informed the development of our research propositions and the conceptual framework that illuminated the relationships between BDA capability and organizational readiness and design Our findings indicate that BDA capability (in terms of data sourcing, access, integration, and delivery, analytical capabilities, and people's expertise) along with organizational readiness and design factors (such as BDA strategy, top management support, financial resources, and employee engagement) facilitated better utilization of BDA in manufacturing decision making, and thus enhanced high value business performance Our results also highlight important managerial implications related to the impact of BDA on empowerment of employees, and how BDA can be integrated into organizations to augment rather than replace management capabilities Our research will be of benefit to academics and practitioners in further aiding our understanding of BDA utilization in transforming operations and production management It adds to the body of limited empirically based knowledge by highlighting the real business value resulting from applying BDA in manufacturing firms and thus encouraging beneficial economic societal changes

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered that production and logistics facilities in the supply chain are positioned between the origin and the supply market or in a part of it, and they considered the effects of some perturbations in a supply chain, in its production or distribution part, on the stability of perishable goods in such systems and what is the appropriate control which keeps the product on the required level of quality and quantity at the final delivery.

TL;DR: It is shown experimentally and theoretically that colloidal dimers and 1D structures bound by entangled topological defect loops can indeed be created by locally thermally quenching a thin layer of the nematic liquid crystal around selected colloidal particles.
Abstract: It has been predicted, but never confirmed, that colloidal particles in a nematic liquid crystal could be self-assembled by delocalized topological defects and entangled disclinations. We show experimentally and theoretically that colloidal dimers and 1D structures bound by entangled topological defect loops can indeed be created by locally thermally quenching a thin layer of the nematic liquid crystal around selected colloidal particles. The topological entanglement provides a strong stringlike binding, which is ten thousand times stronger compared to water-based colloids. This unique binding mechanism could be used to assemble resonator optical waveguides and robust chiral and achiral structures of topologically entangled colloids that we call colloidal wires.

TL;DR: It is shown that the self-dual cases provide a minimal model of many-body quantum chaos, where the spectral form factor is demonstrated to match RMT for all values of the integer time variable t in the thermodynamic limit.
Abstract: The most general and versatile defining feature of quantum chaotic systems is that they possess an energy spectrum with correlations universally described by random matrix theory (RMT). This feature can be exhibited by systems with a well-defined classical limit as well as by systems with no classical correspondence, such as locally interacting spins or fermions. Despite great phenomenological success, a general mechanism explaining the emergence of RMT without reference to semiclassical concepts is still missing. Here we provide the example of a quantum many-body system with no semiclassical limit (no large parameter) where the emergence of RMT spectral correlations is proven exactly. Specifically, we consider a periodically driven Ising model and write the Fourier transform of spectral density's two-point function, the spectral form factor, in terms of a partition function of a two-dimensional classical Ising model featuring a space-time duality. We show that the self-dual cases provide a minimal model of many-body quantum chaos, where the spectral form factor is demonstrated to match RMT for all values of the integer time variable $t$ in the thermodynamic limit. In particular, we rigorously prove RMT form factor for an odd $t$, while we formulate a precise conjecture for an even $t$. The results imply ergodicity for any finite amount of disorder in the longitudinal field, rigorously excluding the possibility of many-body localization. Our method provides a novel route for obtaining exact nonperturbative results in nonintegrable systems.
