TL;DR: Twelve new derivatives of benzothiazole bearing benzenesulphonamide and carboxamide were synthesised and investigated for their in vivo anti-inflammatory, analgesic and ulcerogenic activities, showing an excellent binding interaction with the receptors.
Abstract: Twelve new derivatives of benzothiazole bearing benzenesulphonamide and carboxamide were synthesised and investigated for their in vivo anti-inflammatory, analgesic and ulcerogenic activities. Molecular docking showed an excellent binding interaction of the synthesised compounds with the receptors, with 17c showing the highest binding energy (-12.50 kcal/mol). Compounds 17c and 17i inhibited carrageenan-induced rat paw oedema at 72, 76, and 80% and 64, 73, and 78% at 1 h, 2 h, and 3 h, respectively. In the analgesic activity experiment, compounds 17c, 17 g, and 17i had ED50 (µM/kg) of 96, 127, and 84 after 0.5 h; 102, 134, and 72 after 1 h and 89, 156, and 69 µM/kg after 2 h, respectively, which were comparable with 156, 72, and 70 µM/kg for celecoxib. The ulcerogenic index of the most active derivatives 17c and 17i were 0.82 and 0.89, respectively, comparable to 0.92 for celecoxib. The physicochemical studies of the new derivatives showed that they will not have oral bioavailability problems.

TL;DR: There is a need to educate husbands and their pregnant wives on sexual matters during pregnancy, making approximately one‐third of husbands engage in extra‐marital relationships as a way to satisfy their unmet sexual need during pregnancy.

TL;DR: Reduction in the prevalence of hepatitis B virus infection in Nigeria could be achieved by public enlightenment campaign, mass immunization of the children and adults at risk while antiviral drugs and immunostimulatory therapy should be provided for those already infected.
Abstract: Background:Hepatitis B virus infection is a pandemic and chronic infection may lead to chronic liver diseases which are often lethal. This review was done to assess the status of hepatitis B virus infection in Nigeria. Materials and Method:Source of information was mainly from published works in Nigeria and elsewhere. The information was extracted over period of 5 months from May to December 2007. Result: Since over 30years when pioneer works were done in Nigeria to the recent tunes the prevalence of hepatitis B virus infection has remained very high. In Nigeria, the transmission of hepatitis B virus occurs mainly during childhood and all the risk factors (like blood transfusion, sexual promiscuity, lower socioecomic status etc) implicated elsewhere in the spread of the virus in the general population also play role in Nigeria. Conclusion: Reduction in the of hepatitis B virus infection could be achieved by public enlightenment campaign, mass immunization of the children and adults at risk while antiviral drugs and immunostimulatory therapy should be provided for those already infected.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the results of preliminary investigation of the characteristic levels of heavy metals in surface soils of an oilfield in the Niger Delta, indicating higher concentration of the following metals: Cd, Pb, Cu; Ni, Zn, Cr, Mn and Hg in soils around the gas plant than the pipeline areas.
Abstract: This communication presents the results of preliminary investigation of the characteristic levels of heavy metals in surface soils of an oilfield in the Niger Delta. The results indicate higher concentration of the following metals: Cd, Pb, Cu; Ni, Zn, Cr, Mn and Hg in soils around the gas plant than the pipeline areas. There is a significant temporal and spatial variation in the concentrations of the heavy metals. Samples collected during the wet season showed lower concentrations of heavy metals. The distribution pattern of heavy metals follows the following order Fe> Mn> Zn> V> Cr> Pb> Cu> Ni> Cd> Hg> As. The soils around the oilfield could be considered unpolluted since the concentrations of the metals fit into background levels and concentrations found in natural and agricultural soils. Since metal build up is a gradual process, farmland, fishing ponds and water bodies closer to these facilities will be at risk of heavy metal pollution over time.

TL;DR: Weak and strong convergence theorems for nonspreading mappings in real Hilbert spaces were proved in this article for a new class of nonpreading-type mappings more general than the class studied recently in Kurokawa and Takahashi.
Abstract: Weak and strong convergence theorems are proved in real Hilbert spaces for a new class of nonspreading-type mappings more general than the class studied recently in Kurokawa and Takahashi [Y. Kurokawa, W. Takahashi, Weak and strong convergence theorems for nonspreading mappings in Hilbert spaces, Nonlinear Anal. 73 (2010) 1562–1568]. We explored an auxiliary mapping in our theorems and proofs and this also yielded a strong convergence theorem of Halpern’s type for our class of mappings and hence resolved in the affirmative an open problem posed by Kurokawa and Takahashi in their final remark for the case where the mapping T is averaged.
