Abstract: Recent years, the artificial neural networks were noticeable on development. As the bridge between the theoretical research and application research, the hardware implementation technologies have developed rapidly, particularly in configurable FPGA implementation technologies. However we have found the shortcomings of the existing methods which need to be improved. This paper has taken research on the key issues of the FPGA implementation of neural networks, discussing on the following issues: data representation, inner-products computation, and implementation of activation function, storage and update of weights, nature of learning algorithm and design constraints. It also introduces some relatively mature and new methods and pointed out their deficiencies and future works.

Abstract: A new chelating resin, polystyrene-2-aminothiazole (PS-AT), was synthesized via one-step reaction by grafting 2-aminothiazole in a chloromethylated polystyrene polymer. Its structure was characterized by elemental analysis and infrared spectroscopy. Batch experiments were applied to investigate the adsorption properties of PS-AT for Au(III) ions. The resin exhibits an excellent selectivity for Au(III) ions in the presence of Ni(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), and Co(II) ions. The maximum adsorption capacity obtained at 308 K was 733.8 mg/g. The adsorption kinetic and equilibrium data were well fitted to the pseudo-second-order model and the Langmuir isotherm model, respectively. Desorption of gold from the resin can be achieved using 60 mL of 2 mol/L HCl-10% thiourea solution with a desorption ratio of 93.8%. The XPS data, along with IR spectra, revealed that gold was adsorbed on the surface of PS-AT in the form of chloride, and nitrogen and sulfur were involved in the chelation of gold chloride.

Abstract: Developmentally programmed genome rearrangement accompanies differentiation of the silent germline micronucleus into the transcriptionally active somatic macronucleus in the ciliated protozoan Tetrahymena thermophila. Internal eliminated sequences (IES) are excised, followed by rejoining of MAC-destined sequences, while fragmentation occurs at conserved chromosome breakage sequences, generating macronuclear chromosomes. Some macronuclear chromosomes, referred to as non-maintained chromosomes (NMC), are lost soon after differentiation. Large NMC contain genes implicated in development-specific roles. One such gene encodes the domesticated piggyBac transposase TPB6, required for heterochromatin-dependent precise excision of IES residing within exons of functionally important genes. These conserved exonic IES determine alternative transcription products in the developing macronucleus; some even contain free-standing genes. Examples of precise loss of some exonic IES in the micronucleus and retention of others in the macronucleus of related species suggest an evolutionary analogy to introns. Our results reveal that germline-limited sequences can encode genes with specific expression patterns and development-related functions, which may be a recurring theme in eukaryotic organisms experiencing programmed genome rearrangement during germline to soma differentiation.
