Cancer-related inflammation.

TLDR
The role of cancer-associated inflammation and the particular role of MIF in malignant disease is discussed and there is evidence that the cytokine is produced by both malignant cells and infiltrating leukocytes.

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor A and Leptin Expression Associated with Ectopic Proliferation and Retinal Dysplasia in Zebrafish Optic Pathway Tumors

TL;DR: It is suggested that multiple pathways may contribute to the continuous proliferation of retinal progenitors and tumor growth in this optic pathway tumor model and further investigation of these signaling pathways may yield insight into potential mechanisms to control the proliferative response during regeneration in the nervous system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pattern of immune infiltration in lung cancer and its clinical implication.

TL;DR: The proportions of tumor-infiltrating immune cells as well as cluster patterns were associated with the prognosis, which provided potential therapeutic targets for lung cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Meta-Analysis of Interleukin Polymorphisms and NSAID Usage Indicates Correlations to the Risk of Developing Cancer

TL;DR: A correlation between the polymorphisms IL6 rs1800795 and IL8 rs4073 and NSAID usage in decreased cancer risk is identified and identified by a meta-analysis.

The Metabolic Remodelling in Lung Cancer and Its Putative Consequence in Therapy Response.

TL;DR: Knowledge of the metabolic remodelling that occurs in cancer cells in the sense of surviving in the microenvironment of the organ in which the tumour develops and escaping from drugs conditioned microenvironment is essential to understand the disease and to develop new therapeutic approaches.

Cancer-related inflammation.

TL;DR: The molecular pathways of this cancer-related inflammation are now being unravelled, resulting in the identification of new target molecules that could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment.

Inflammation and cancer: back to Virchow?

TL;DR: A rationale for the use of cytokine and chemokine blockade, and further investigation of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, in the chemoprevention and treatment of malignant diseases is provided.

IKKbeta links inflammation and tumorigenesis in a mouse model of colitis-associated cancer.

TL;DR: It is shown that although deletion of IKKbeta in intestinal epithelial cells does not decrease inflammation, it leads to a dramatic decrease in tumor incidence without affecting tumor size, which is linked to increased epithelial apoptosis during tumor promotion.
Journal ArticleDOI

NF-κB functions as a tumour promoter in inflammation-associated cancer

TL;DR: It is shown that the inflammatory process triggers hepatocyte NF-κB through upregulation of tumour-necrosis factor-α (TNFα) in adjacent endothelial and inflammatory cells, and is therefore a potential target for cancer prevention in chronic inflammatory diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Smoldering and polarized inflammation in the initiation and promotion of malignant disease

TL;DR: A number of clinical trials of TNF-α antagonists alone, and in combination with other therapies, are currently underway in cancer patients, and there are suggestions of activity against advanced disease in advanced ovarian and renal cell cancer.
