Cancer-related inflammation.

TLDR
The role of cancer-associated inflammation and the particular role of MIF in malignant disease is discussed and there is evidence that the cytokine is produced by both malignant cells and infiltrating leukocytes.

Design of cysteine-based self-assembling polymer drugs for anticancer chemotherapy.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors developed L-cysteine (Cys)-based polymer micelles as new self-assembling antioxidants to reduce the adverse effects of conventional antioxidants.

Protective effects of Andrographolide sodium bisulfate on UV-induced skin carcinogenesis in mice model.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors explored the effects of andrographolide sodium bisulfate (ASB) on UV-induced skin cancer and revealed the underlying molecular mechanism, which indicated that ASB significantly inhibited increase of skin epidermal thickness, inflammatory cells infiltration and fibers damage in dermis, oxidative stress injury and skin carcinogenesis.

Interleukin-6 gene-174 G/C promoter polymorphism is not associated with multiple myeloma susceptibility: evidence from meta-analysis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors conducted a meta-analysis to explore the association between IL-6 gene-174 G/C promoter polymorphism and multiple myeloma (MM) susceptibility.
Journal ArticleDOI

Glucocorticoid regulation of cancer development and progression

TL;DR: In this article , the effects of glucocorticoids on cancer development and progression with particular focus on pro and anti-tumor immunity were explored, with a focus on the timing, intensity, and duration of glucoci-corticoid signaling.

Cancer-related inflammation.

TL;DR: The molecular pathways of this cancer-related inflammation are now being unravelled, resulting in the identification of new target molecules that could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment.

Inflammation and cancer: back to Virchow?

TL;DR: A rationale for the use of cytokine and chemokine blockade, and further investigation of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, in the chemoprevention and treatment of malignant diseases is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

IKKbeta links inflammation and tumorigenesis in a mouse model of colitis-associated cancer.

TL;DR: It is shown that although deletion of IKKbeta in intestinal epithelial cells does not decrease inflammation, it leads to a dramatic decrease in tumor incidence without affecting tumor size, which is linked to increased epithelial apoptosis during tumor promotion.
Journal ArticleDOI

NF-κB functions as a tumour promoter in inflammation-associated cancer

TL;DR: It is shown that the inflammatory process triggers hepatocyte NF-κB through upregulation of tumour-necrosis factor-α (TNFα) in adjacent endothelial and inflammatory cells, and is therefore a potential target for cancer prevention in chronic inflammatory diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Smoldering and polarized inflammation in the initiation and promotion of malignant disease

TL;DR: A number of clinical trials of TNF-α antagonists alone, and in combination with other therapies, are currently underway in cancer patients, and there are suggestions of activity against advanced disease in advanced ovarian and renal cell cancer.
