Global Cancer Incidence and Mortality Rates and Trends—An Update

TLDR
Applied cancer control measures are needed to reduce rates in HICs and arrest the growing burden in LMICs, as well as for lung, colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer, although some low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) now count among those with the highest rates.

Aptamers as Diagnostic Tools in Cancer.

TL;DR: The principal considerations and recent updates in cancer detection and imaging through aptamer-based molecules are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genomic landscape of metastatic breast cancer identifies preferentially dysregulated pathways and targets

TL;DR: Immunohistochemical analyses revealed that metastases preferentially inactivate pRB, upregulate the mTORC1 and WNT signaling pathways, and exhibit nuclear localization of activated PKA, which identifies multiple therapeutic targets in metastatic recurrence that are not significantly mutated in primary cancers.

DEB-TACE: a standard review.

TL;DR: It is underline that there is no evidence about the superiority of DEB-TACE over conventional TACE in terms of efficacy, but there may be some benefits with respect to safety especially with the improvement of new technologies.

A Light-Triggered Mesenchymal Stem Cell Delivery System for Photoacoustic Imaging and Chemo-Photothermal Therapy of Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

TL;DR: In vivo studies show that the MSCs‐LDGI has the enhanced migration and penetration abilities in the tumor area via both intratumoral and intravenous injection approaches compared with LDGI, and shows the best antitumor efficacy via chemo‐photothermal therapy compared to other treatment groups in the TNBC model of nude mice.

MANAGEMENT OF ENDOCRINE DISEASE: Acromegaly and cancer: an old debate revisited

TL;DR: The existing data relating to cancer risk and mortality in acromegaly is reviewed, exploring the limitations of study designs and the impact of changes in disease control and patient outcomes over time.

Estimates of worldwide burden of cancer in 2008: GLOBOCAN 2008.

TL;DR: The results for 20 world regions are presented, summarizing the global patterns for the eight most common cancers, and striking differences in the patterns of cancer from region to region are observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reduced lung-cancer mortality with low-dose computed tomographic screening.

TL;DR: Screening with the use of low-dose CT reduces mortality from lung cancer, as compared with the radiography group, and the rate of death from any cause was reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

The global health burden of infection-associated cancers in the year 2002.

TL;DR: The fraction of the different types of cancer, and of all cancers worldwide and in different regions, has been estimated using several methods; primarily by reviewing the evidence for the strength of the association (relative risk) and the prevalence of infection in different world areas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changing patterns in the incidence of esophageal and gastric carcinoma in the United States

TL;DR: The authors update the incidence trends through 1994 and further consider the trends by age group.

What are the current global trends in advanced cancer incidence?

Advanced cancer incidence trends vary globally, with high-income countries showing higher rates for common cancers, while low- and middle-income countries face increasing rates due to lifestyle factors and infections.
