TLDR
Applied cancer control measures are needed to reduce rates in HICs and arrest the growing burden in LMICs, as well as for lung, colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer, although some low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) now count among those with the highest rates.

Prognostic Significance of Tumor-Infiltrating Natural Killer Cells in Solid Tumors: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

TL;DR: It is indicated that high levels of NK cell markers in solid tumor tissues could predict favorable prognosis for solid tumor patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colorectal liver metastasis: molecular mechanism and interventional therapy

TL;DR: In this article , the authors summarized the mechanisms/pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) patients and provided an overview of the recent advances in understanding the molecular basis of CRLM with a special emphasis on tumor microenvironment.
Journal ArticleDOI

LncRNA-ATB promotes autophagy by activating Yes-associated protein and inducing autophagy-related protein 5 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma.

TL;DR: The expression of lncRNA-ATB was higher in HCC tissues than in normal liver tissues, and lncRNAs expression was positively correlated with tumor size, TNM stage, and poorer survival of patients with HCC.

Single-Atom Catalysts for Nanocatalytic Tumor Therapy.

TL;DR: In this article, the most recent advances in nanocatalytic tumor therapy by using various types of SACs, especially their remarkable achievements in several Nanocatalysis tumor therapy-based modalities, such as chemodynamic therapy by tumor microenvironment-responsive catalytic reactions, photodynamic therapy, sonodynamic therapy and parallel catalytic therapy by parallel catalyty reactions, are reviewed by focusing on the catalytic nanoplatform construction and catalytic mechanism.

Estimates of worldwide burden of cancer in 2008: GLOBOCAN 2008.

TL;DR: The results for 20 world regions are presented, summarizing the global patterns for the eight most common cancers, and striking differences in the patterns of cancer from region to region are observed.

Reduced lung-cancer mortality with low-dose computed tomographic screening.

TL;DR: Screening with the use of low-dose CT reduces mortality from lung cancer, as compared with the radiography group, and the rate of death from any cause was reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

The global health burden of infection-associated cancers in the year 2002.

TL;DR: The fraction of the different types of cancer, and of all cancers worldwide and in different regions, has been estimated using several methods; primarily by reviewing the evidence for the strength of the association (relative risk) and the prevalence of infection in different world areas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changing patterns in the incidence of esophageal and gastric carcinoma in the United States

TL;DR: The authors update the incidence trends through 1994 and further consider the trends by age group.

What are the current global trends in advanced cancer incidence?

Advanced cancer incidence trends vary globally, with high-income countries showing higher rates for common cancers, while low- and middle-income countries face increasing rates due to lifestyle factors and infections.
