TLDR
Applied cancer control measures are needed to reduce rates in HICs and arrest the growing burden in LMICs, as well as for lung, colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer, although some low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) now count among those with the highest rates.

Lifetime risks, loss of life expectancy, and health care expenditures for 19 types of cancer in Taiwan.

TL;DR: The lifetime risks, life expectancies after diagnosis, expected years of life lost (EYLL), and lifetime health care expenditures for 19 major cancers in Taiwan are quantified to quantify the impacts of cancer in Taiwan.

Estimates of worldwide burden of cancer in 2008: GLOBOCAN 2008.

TL;DR: The results for 20 world regions are presented, summarizing the global patterns for the eight most common cancers, and striking differences in the patterns of cancer from region to region are observed.

Reduced lung-cancer mortality with low-dose computed tomographic screening.

TL;DR: Screening with the use of low-dose CT reduces mortality from lung cancer, as compared with the radiography group, and the rate of death from any cause was reduced.

The global health burden of infection-associated cancers in the year 2002.

TL;DR: The fraction of the different types of cancer, and of all cancers worldwide and in different regions, has been estimated using several methods; primarily by reviewing the evidence for the strength of the association (relative risk) and the prevalence of infection in different world areas.
