Global Cancer Incidence and Mortality Rates and Trends—An Update

TLDR
Applied cancer control measures are needed to reduce rates in HICs and arrest the growing burden in LMICs, as well as for lung, colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer, although some low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) now count among those with the highest rates.

Molecular diagnostics of lung cancer in the clinic.

TL;DR: The indications for and pitfalls of routine NGS and plasma genotyping in the clinic, including the intersection of these technologies are explored, are explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Liquid biopsy: Exosomal microRNAs as novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in cancer

TL;DR: In this paper , a review of exosomal miRNAs (liquid biopsy) as biomarkers in the diagnosis and prognosis of various cancers is presented. But the authors focus on the use of liquid biopsies as a supplement to biopsy, as it enables disease progression to be detected months before clinical and radiographic confirmation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Potential Prognostic and Diagnostic Values of CDC6, CDC45, ORC6 and SNHG7 in Colorectal Cancer.

TL;DR: CDC6, CDC45, ORC6 and SNHG7 are implicated in CRC initiation and progression and could be explored as potential diagnosis, therapy and prognosis targets for CRC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stromal PDGFR-α Activation Enhances Matrix Stiffness, Impedes Mammary Ductal Development, and Accelerates Tumor Growth.

TL;DR: It is established that aberrant stromal PDGFRα signaling disrupts ECM homeostasis during mammary gland development, resulting in increased mammary stiffness and increased potential for tumor growth.
Journal Article

Circular RNAs: an emerging landscape in tumor metastasis.

TL;DR: The current state of research on functions and mechanisms of novel circ RNAs that regulate tumorigenesis are summarized and the relationship between dysregulation of circRNAs and tumor metastasis is evaluated.

Estimates of worldwide burden of cancer in 2008: GLOBOCAN 2008.

TL;DR: The results for 20 world regions are presented, summarizing the global patterns for the eight most common cancers, and striking differences in the patterns of cancer from region to region are observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reduced lung-cancer mortality with low-dose computed tomographic screening.

TL;DR: Screening with the use of low-dose CT reduces mortality from lung cancer, as compared with the radiography group, and the rate of death from any cause was reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

The global health burden of infection-associated cancers in the year 2002.

TL;DR: The fraction of the different types of cancer, and of all cancers worldwide and in different regions, has been estimated using several methods; primarily by reviewing the evidence for the strength of the association (relative risk) and the prevalence of infection in different world areas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changing patterns in the incidence of esophageal and gastric carcinoma in the United States

TL;DR: The authors update the incidence trends through 1994 and further consider the trends by age group.

What are the current global trends in advanced cancer incidence?

Advanced cancer incidence trends vary globally, with high-income countries showing higher rates for common cancers, while low- and middle-income countries face increasing rates due to lifestyle factors and infections.
