Global Cancer Incidence and Mortality Rates and Trends—An Update

TLDR
Applied cancer control measures are needed to reduce rates in HICs and arrest the growing burden in LMICs, as well as for lung, colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer, although some low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) now count among those with the highest rates.

Breast Cancer and the Other Non-Coding RNAs

TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarized the known abnormalities in the function and expression of long non-coding RNAs, Piwi interacting RNAs and small nucleolar RNAs in breast cancer, and how these abnormalities affect the development of this deadly disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dietary patterns and risk of prostate cancer: a factor analysis study in a sample of Iranian men.

TL;DR: This study shows that an unhealthy dietary pattern was associated with increased risk of prostate cancer, however, a healthy dietary patternwas associated with decreased risk of Prostate cancer.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

A multi-objective approach for calibration and detection of cervical cells nuclei

TL;DR: An algorithm combining clustering and genetic algorithms to detect image regions with high diagnostic value and a new nuclear targeting approach using heuristics associated with a multi-objective genetic algorithm are introduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Germline INDELs and CNVs in a cohort of colorectal cancer patients: their characteristics, associations with relapse-free survival time, and potential time-varying effects on the risk of relapse.

TL;DR: This is one of the first genome‐wide analyses that identified the germline INDEL/CNV profiles in colorectal cancer patients and identified germline variants that can potentially be early‐relapse markers in colordant cancer patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical Investigation of the Efficacy and Safety of Anlotinib with Immunotherapy in Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer as Third-Line Therapy: A Retrospective Study.

TL;DR: The clinical effectiveness of anlotinib combined with immunotherapy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer as third-line therapy was demonstrated and the main adverse events were tolerated.

Estimates of worldwide burden of cancer in 2008: GLOBOCAN 2008.

TL;DR: The results for 20 world regions are presented, summarizing the global patterns for the eight most common cancers, and striking differences in the patterns of cancer from region to region are observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reduced lung-cancer mortality with low-dose computed tomographic screening.

TL;DR: Screening with the use of low-dose CT reduces mortality from lung cancer, as compared with the radiography group, and the rate of death from any cause was reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

The global health burden of infection-associated cancers in the year 2002.

TL;DR: The fraction of the different types of cancer, and of all cancers worldwide and in different regions, has been estimated using several methods; primarily by reviewing the evidence for the strength of the association (relative risk) and the prevalence of infection in different world areas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changing patterns in the incidence of esophageal and gastric carcinoma in the United States

TL;DR: The authors update the incidence trends through 1994 and further consider the trends by age group.

What are the current global trends in advanced cancer incidence?

Advanced cancer incidence trends vary globally, with high-income countries showing higher rates for common cancers, while low- and middle-income countries face increasing rates due to lifestyle factors and infections.
