Dielectric and optical properties of samarium oxide thin films

TL;DR: In this paper, thin film capacitors of Al/Sm 2 O 3 /Al structure have been prepared by vacuum evaporation and their structural and optical properties have been obtained by X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and optical spectrophotometry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optical response and emission waveguiding in rubrene crystals

TL;DR: In this paper, the optical response of rubrene crystals is described by providing the full UV-VIS dielectric tensor, and the lowest crystal transition originates from an ${A}_{u}$ molecular transition, it is polarized along the $c$ axis (normal to the larger crystal face), and it is the origin of the emission which is self-guided towards the edge where the corresponding polarization and intensity angular distribution are detected.

Multiple surface plasmon spectroscopy for study of biomolecular systems

TL;DR: In this article, a new approach to surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensing based on spectroscopy of multiple surface plasmons on a special multi-diffractive grating coupler was proposed.

Physical and chemical aspects in the application of thin films on optical elements.

Karl H. Guenther
- 15 Oct 1984 -
TL;DR: Some physical and chemical properties of particular interest for the user of coated optical elements are surveyed and the importance of the thermal stability of optical coatings is emphasized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of optical properties of thin organic films by spectroellipsometry

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss methods and applications of spectroellipsometry towards obtaining this type of information about thin organic thin films and indicate possible directions for future optical characterization work in this field.

Ellipsometry and polarized light

TL;DR: In this article, the polarization of light waves and propagation of polarized light through polarizing optical systems are discussed. But the authors focus on the application of ellipsometry in the field of measurement in ellipsometer systems.

A Variational Approach to the Theory of the Effective Magnetic Permeability of Multiphase Materials

TL;DR: In this article, the authors established and applied variational theorems for the derivation of bounds for the effective magnetic permeability of macroscopically homogeneous and isotropic multiphase materials.

Investigation of effective-medium models of microscopic surface roughness by spectroscopic ellipsometry

TL;DR: In this article, Bruggeman and Maxwell Garnett showed that the dielectric properties of microscopically rough layers of thicknesses 100-500 \AA{}A are accurately modeled in the effective medium approximation.
