Abstract
This report describes an enhanced test system (RTS-96) for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies. The value of the test system is that it will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques. The test system was developed by modifying and updating the original IEEE RTS (referred to as RTS-79 hereafter) to reflect changes in evaluation methodologies and to overcome perceived deficiencies.

Global Solution Strategies for the Network-Constrained Unit Commitment Problem With AC Transmission Constraints

TL;DR: A novel global solution algorithm is proposed for the network-constrained unit commitment problem that incorporates a nonlinear alternating current model of the transmission network, which is a nonconvex mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem.

Flexibility Reserve in Power Systems: Definition and Stochastic Multi-Fidelity Optimization

TL;DR: A stochastic optimization model is proposed for multi-fidelity co-optimization of energy and flexibility reserve in day-ahead power systems operation and demonstrates that the proposed model schedules a reserve capacity that more accurately matches the real-time energy imbalance and ramping requirements of net-load, while reducing the total operation cost of the system.

Secure control systems: a control-theoretic approach to cyber-physical security

TL;DR: A unified modeling framework for cyber-physical systems, monitors, and attacks is proposed and several illustrative examples confirm that the effectiveness of the methods are effective also in the presence of system noise and unmodeled dynamics.

Two-stage adjustable robust optimisation for unit commitment under uncertainty

TL;DR: In this paper, a new adjustable robust optimisation formulation is proposed to solve unit commitment (UC) problems under uncertainty, where here-and-now UC decisions are determined in the first stage, and the second stage makes wait-andsee dispatch decisions.

Distributed Approach for DC Optimal Power Flow Calculations

TL;DR: This paper proposes a method which enables a fully distributed solution of the DC Optimal Power Flow problem (DC-OPF), i.e. the generation settings which minimize cost while supplying the load and ensuring that all line flows are below their limits are determined in a distributed fashion.

IEEE Reliability Test System

TL;DR: In this article, a load model, generation system, and transmission network which can be used to test or compare methods for reliability analysis of power systems is described. But the authors focus on the reliability of the power system and do not consider the transmission system.

The IEEE Reliability Test System - Extensions to and Evaluation of the Generating System

TL;DR: The RTS is extended by including more factors and system conditions which may be included in the reliability evaluation of generating systems to create a wider set of consistent data.

Effect of Station Originated Outages in a Composite System Adequacy Evaluation of the IEEE Reliability Test System

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of terminal stations in composite system reliability evaluation by using the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) are discussed. But the authors do not consider the impact of station originated outages on the composite system adequacy indices.

A comprehensive approach for adequacy and security evaluation of bulk power systems

TL;DR: In this paper, a new approach is described for assessing the adequacy and security of bulk power systems, which takes into account generation and transmission failures, load variation, generation economic dispatch, security limits, maintenance schedules, the control actions implemented in emergencies.

Incorporation of a DC-link in a composite system adequacy assessment-composite system analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) is augmented by adding a direct current (DC) link and is used as the test system for adequacy evaluation of a composite generation and transmission system.
