Abstract
This report describes an enhanced test system (RTS-96) for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies. The value of the test system is that it will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques. The test system was developed by modifying and updating the original IEEE RTS (referred to as RTS-79 hereafter) to reflect changes in evaluation methodologies and to overcome perceived deficiencies.

Spinning reserve estimation in microgrids

TL;DR: In this article, a probabilistic methodology for estimating the spinning reserve in microgrids is proposed, which is determined by maximizing the total profit while considering the unreliability of units and uncertainties caused by non-atchable units and load.

Payment Cost Minimization Auction for Deregulated Electricity Markets With Transmission Capacity Constraints

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed an augmented Lagrangian and surrogate optimization framework to solve payment cost minimization problems without considering transmission capacity constraints, and they extended that approach to incorporate transmission capacity constraint.

Power Management of Microgrids Including PHEVs Based on Maximum Employment of Renewable Energy Resources

TL;DR: A smart charging scheme is proposed for PHEVs that can minimize the energy drawn from the main grid, and this minimizes the dependence of MGs on the maingrid by maximizing the use of RERs/DERs.

Coordination of wind generation and demand response to minimise operation cost in day-ahead electricity markets using bi-level optimisation framework

TL;DR: A bi-level market model for wind-integrated electricity market, where the DR requirement is paired with the wind profile to deal with wind variability is proposed, which leads to minimum operation cost and is least inconvenient for end users as it sets the DR at a minimum level.

Multi-Area DC-OPF for HVAC and HVDC Grids

TL;DR: In this paper, a distributed multi-area optimal power flow (OPF) algorithm is proposed to solve the OPF problem in HVDC grids, where the only data to be exchanged between the areas pertains to the border nodes.

IEEE Reliability Test System

TL;DR: In this article, a load model, generation system, and transmission network which can be used to test or compare methods for reliability analysis of power systems is described. But the authors focus on the reliability of the power system and do not consider the transmission system.

The IEEE Reliability Test System - Extensions to and Evaluation of the Generating System

TL;DR: The RTS is extended by including more factors and system conditions which may be included in the reliability evaluation of generating systems to create a wider set of consistent data.

Effect of Station Originated Outages in a Composite System Adequacy Evaluation of the IEEE Reliability Test System

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of terminal stations in composite system reliability evaluation by using the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) are discussed. But the authors do not consider the impact of station originated outages on the composite system adequacy indices.

A comprehensive approach for adequacy and security evaluation of bulk power systems

TL;DR: In this paper, a new approach is described for assessing the adequacy and security of bulk power systems, which takes into account generation and transmission failures, load variation, generation economic dispatch, security limits, maintenance schedules, the control actions implemented in emergencies.

Incorporation of a DC-link in a composite system adequacy assessment-composite system analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) is augmented by adding a direct current (DC) link and is used as the test system for adequacy evaluation of a composite generation and transmission system.
