This report describes an enhanced test system (RTS-96) for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies. The value of the test system is that it will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques. The test system was developed by modifying and updating the original IEEE RTS (referred to as RTS-79 hereafter) to reflect changes in evaluation methodologies and to overcome perceived deficiencies.read more

Risk Assessment of Multi-Timescale Cascading Outages Based on Markovian Tree Search
TL;DR: The Markovian tree model is reformulated from the quasi-dynamic multitimescale simulation model proposed recently to ensure reasonable modeling and simulation of cascading outages and a risk estimation index is proposed to guide the search for states with major contributions to the risk.

Analysis of electric grid interdiction with line switching
TL;DR: In this paper, the vulnerability analysis of the electric grid under terrorist threat is formulated as a mixed-integer non-linear bilevel program, where the terrorist agent maximizes the damage caused in the power system, which is measured in terms of the level of system load shed.
