In this article, an enhanced test system (RTS-96) is described for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies, which will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques.Abstract:
This report describes an enhanced test system (RTS-96) for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies. The value of the test system is that it will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques. The test system was developed by modifying and updating the original IEEE RTS (referred to as RTS-79 hereafter) to reflect changes in evaluation methodologies and to overcome perceived deficiencies.read more

Stochastic AC optimal power flow with approximate chance-constraints
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors formulate a probabilistic AC optimal power flow where the uncertainties are accounted for using chance constraints on line currents and voltage magnitudes, which ensure that the probability of limit violations remain small, but require a tractable reformulation.

Optimal maintenance scheduling of power producers considering unexpected unit failure
C Feng,Xiaowei Wang,Furong Li +2 more
TL;DR: In this article, a unit maintenance scheduling (UMS) problem formulation for a generation producer is presented, to maximise its benefit while thoroughly considering the risk associated with unexpected unit failures, and its impact on the producer-s benefit is analyzed in detail, including expected profit of selling energy, expected renewal cost of damaged components and maintenance cost.

Transmission Network Investment With Distributed Energy Resources and Distributionally Robust Security
TL;DR: This work proposes a distributionally robust approach to network security in order to recognize the limited data and knowledge associated with the underlying process behind the realization of system contingencies within the transmission expansion planning (TEP) problem, and thus determine the optimal portfolio of DER services necessary to displace, in a secure fashion, inefficient network investments.

Evaluation of loss of load probability for power systems using intelligent search based state space pruning
TL;DR: The preliminary results indicate that this technique is promising to improve the convergence performance of MCS when calculating reliability indices and is tested using an IEEE Reliability Test System at different levels.

Effect of Station Originated Outages in a Composite System Adequacy Evaluation of the IEEE Reliability Test System
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of terminal stations in composite system reliability evaluation by using the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) are discussed. But the authors do not consider the impact of station originated outages on the composite system adequacy indices.
