Abstract
This report describes an enhanced test system (RTS-96) for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies. The value of the test system is that it will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques. The test system was developed by modifying and updating the original IEEE RTS (referred to as RTS-79 hereafter) to reflect changes in evaluation methodologies and to overcome perceived deficiencies.

Impact of multilateral congestion management on the reliability of power transactions

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of multilateral congestion management on the reliability of power transactions is assessed based on reliability indices such as expected power curtailments, curtailment probability, expected cost of congestion management and probability distributions of the total power curtailment.

Quantitative Risk Management by Demand Response in Distribution Networks

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method to build a detailed reliability model, to assess the expected reliability indices, and to manage the financial risk of the reliability performance by demand response in distribution networks subject to performance-based regulation.

Development of energy and reserve pre-dispatch and re-dispatch models for real-time price risk and reliability assessment

TL;DR: The proposed market scheme coupled with a contingency analysis methodology has been used to evaluate both real-time electricity price risk and short term reliabilities during the operational hour in the new environment.

Evaluation of generation expansion investment under competitive market environment

TL;DR: In this article, a new approach of generation expansion planning and its risk assessment under the competitive market environment is proposed, which is based on the probability distribution of the surplus on bidding price over marginal cost, the distribution of expected generated energy for a given period can be achieved to calculate the profit of a generator.

Effect of Station Originated Outages in a Composite System Adequacy Evaluation of the IEEE Reliability Test System

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of terminal stations in composite system reliability evaluation by using the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) are discussed. But the authors do not consider the impact of station originated outages on the composite system adequacy indices.
