Abstract
This report describes an enhanced test system (RTS-96) for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies. The value of the test system is that it will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques. The test system was developed by modifying and updating the original IEEE RTS (referred to as RTS-79 hereafter) to reflect changes in evaluation methodologies and to overcome perceived deficiencies.

Estimating cascading failure risk with Random Chemistry

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a new approach to estimate the risk of large cascading blackouts triggered by multiple contingencies, which uses a search algorithm (Random Chemistry) to identify blackout-causing contingencies and then combines the results with outage probabilities to estimate overall risk.

Impact of Correlation Between Wind Speed and Turbine Availability on Wind Farm Reliability

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a new method to evaluate the reliability of a wind farm considering the correlation between wind turbine reliability and wind speed, which is implemented using discrete convolution.

The value of bulk energy storage for reducing CO2 emissions and water requirements from regional electricity systems

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the value of three BES technologies (CO2-Geothermal Bulk Energy Storage, compressed air energy storage, and pumped hydro energy storage) for reducing system-wide CO2 emissions and water requirements.

A two-stage framework for power transformer asset maintenance management—Part I: Models and formulations

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-stage maintenance scheduler for power transmission assets is proposed, where the midterm and short-term stages are completely decoupled schemes to make the problem computationally tractable.

Reliability evaluation of a composite power system containing wind and solar generation

TL;DR: In this paper, the potential impacts of large-scale wind and photovoltaic (PV) farms on reliability level of composite generation and transmission systems are examined, where both component failure rates and uncertainty nature of renewable resources are taken into account.

Effect of Station Originated Outages in a Composite System Adequacy Evaluation of the IEEE Reliability Test System

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of terminal stations in composite system reliability evaluation by using the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) are discussed. But the authors do not consider the impact of station originated outages on the composite system adequacy indices.
