The IEEE Reliability Test System-1996. A report prepared by the Reliability Test System Task Force of the Application of Probability Methods Subcommittee

TLDR
In this article, an enhanced test system (RTS-96) is described for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies, which will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques.
Abstract
This report describes an enhanced test system (RTS-96) for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies. The value of the test system is that it will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques. The test system was developed by modifying and updating the original IEEE RTS (referred to as RTS-79 hereafter) to reflect changes in evaluation methodologies and to overcome perceived deficiencies.

Automatic Segmentation of Large Power Systems Into Fuzzy Coherent Areas for Dynamic Vulnerability Assessment

TL;DR: The initialization problem of the conventional fuzzy c-means algorithm, which usually leads to multiple solutions, is suitably tackled by incorporating the maximum-dissimilarity based sequential phasor measurement unit (PMU) placement technique.

Optimal Planning of Storage in Power Systems Integrated With Wind Power Generation

TL;DR: In this article, an approach for determining the optimal location and size of an energy storage system (ESS) in a power system network integrated with uncertain wind power generation is proposed, where the uncertainty of wind power output is represented by a scenario tree model, so that the non-anticipative behavior of operating decisions under system uncertainties can be properly addressed.

Simulating the Impact of Wind Production on Locational Marginal Prices

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of wind production on the locational marginal prices of a fully competitive pool-based electricity market is analyzed, where wind production is modeled as negative loads and characterized by historical data records.

Power System Risk Assessment and Control in a Multiobjective Framework

TL;DR: This paper develops probabilistic indices, risk, to assess real-time power system security level, and shows that risk-based system security control results in lower risk, lower cost, and less exposure to cascading outages.

Finding multiperiod Nash equilibria in pool-based electricity markets

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed model of an electricity market is presented, considering multi-period bidding, price elasticity, and network modeling, and an iterative simulation process is run to detect participants' bidding strategies implicit in the optimized production.
