Abstract
This report describes an enhanced test system (RTS-96) for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies. The value of the test system is that it will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques. The test system was developed by modifying and updating the original IEEE RTS (referred to as RTS-79 hereafter) to reflect changes in evaluation methodologies and to overcome perceived deficiencies.

A robust optimization method for co-planning of transmission systems and merchant distributed energy resources

TL;DR: A new robust co-planning model for transmission investment and merchant distributed energy resources (DERs) is presented that considers the uncertainties associated with future peak load and generation capacity, the production of renewable units, and the locational marginal price of each candidate bus for installing DERs.

Flexible Security-Constrained Optimal Power Flow

TL;DR: In this paper, a flexible security-constrained optimal power flow (FSCOPF) algorithm is proposed, which utilizes power router control in the post-contingency timeframe.

Production efficiency of nodal and zonal pricing in imperfectly competitive electricity markets

TL;DR: A mathematical model to study the imperfect competition under zonal pricing with FBMC is developed and it is shown that the optimality conditions and market clearing conditions can be reformulated as a mixed integer linear program (MILP), which is straightforward to implement.

A multi-attribute congestion-driven approach for evaluation of power generation plans

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a multi-attribute decision-making approach for a considered power generation plan (PGP), which includes three major stages: (1) obtaining different attributes of TCM for all considered scenarios, i.e., the normal operating case and contingencies due to outage of power system components before and after implementation of the PGP.

Three-dimensional visualization and animation for power systems analysis

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that three-dimensional visualization of power systems can be used for teaching and can help in easily understanding complex concepts.

Effect of Station Originated Outages in a Composite System Adequacy Evaluation of the IEEE Reliability Test System

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of terminal stations in composite system reliability evaluation by using the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) are discussed. But the authors do not consider the impact of station originated outages on the composite system adequacy indices.

Incorporation of a DC-link in a composite system adequacy assessment-composite system analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) is augmented by adding a direct current (DC) link and is used as the test system for adequacy evaluation of a composite generation and transmission system.
