Abstract
This report describes an enhanced test system (RTS-96) for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies. The value of the test system is that it will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques. The test system was developed by modifying and updating the original IEEE RTS (referred to as RTS-79 hereafter) to reflect changes in evaluation methodologies and to overcome perceived deficiencies.

Transmission and Wind Power Investment

TL;DR: In this paper, a mathematical program with equilibrium constraints (MPEC) is proposed to identify the optimal wind projects to be developed and the required network reinforcements under the transmission/system operator perspective.

Locational marginal price sensitivities

TL;DR: Within an optimal power flow market clearing framework, the authors provides expressions to compute the sensitivities of locational marginal prices with respect to power demands, and also provides a case study to illustrate the expressions derived.

Voltage collapse in complex power grids

TL;DR: This work derives a closed-form condition under which a power network is safe from voltage collapse, and extensively test its predictions on large-scale systems, highlighting how the condition can be leveraged to increase grid stability margins.

Equilibria in an Oligopolistic Electricity Pool With Stepwise Offer Curves

TL;DR: In this paper, the equilibria reached by strategic producers in a pool-based network-constrained electricity market were analyzed by solving the strong stationarity conditions of all MPECs, which can be linearized without approximation by mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) techniques.

The $N-k$ Problem in Power Grids: New Models, Formulations, and Numerical Experiments

TL;DR: Results are presented involving a mixed-integer linear model and a continuous nonlinear model related to the so-called N-k problem, which asks whether there exists a set of $k$ or fewer arcs whose removal will cause the system to fail.

Effect of Station Originated Outages in a Composite System Adequacy Evaluation of the IEEE Reliability Test System

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of terminal stations in composite system reliability evaluation by using the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) are discussed. But the authors do not consider the impact of station originated outages on the composite system adequacy indices.
