In this article, an enhanced test system (RTS-96) is described for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies, which will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques.Abstract:
This report describes an enhanced test system (RTS-96) for use in bulk power system reliability evaluation studies. The value of the test system is that it will permit comparative and benchmark studies to be performed on new and existing reliability evaluation techniques. The test system was developed by modifying and updating the original IEEE RTS (referred to as RTS-79 hereafter) to reflect changes in evaluation methodologies and to overcome perceived deficiencies.read more

Multi-objective transmission expansion planning considering minimization of curtailed wind energy
Faruk Ugranli,Engin Karatepe +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a new multi-objective transmission expansion planning (TEP) in order to find optimum location of lines/transformers by considering intermittent nature of wind power and variable load structure is proposed.

A probabilistic model for assessing the long-term economics of wind energy
Jorge Valenzuela,Jianhui Wang +1 more
TL;DR: The superiority of the proposed probabilistic model over a deterministic one is confirmed and the effect of increasing wind power penetration on the probability distribution functions of the market price and wind farm revenues is evaluated by changing the rated capacity of the wind farm.

Optimal Dynamic Line Rating Forecasts Selection Based on Ampacity Probabilistic Forecasting and Network Operators’ Risk Aversion
TL;DR: A methodology for exploiting the latent current-carrying capacity of overhead transmission lines taking into account line ampacity forecasts, power flow simulations, and the network operator's risk aversion is proposed.

Allocation of the cost of transmission losses using a radial equivalent network
TL;DR: In this paper, a procedure for the allocation of the cost of transmission losses that is based on deriving a radial network that is fully equivalent to the original one is presented, where the equivalence materializes in that voltage magnitudes and angles, and active and reactive power injections are identical for both networks.
