The immune system, adaptation, and machine learning

TLDR
A dynamical model for the immune system is described that is based on the network hypothesis of Jerne, and is simple enough to simulate on a computer, and has a strong similarity to an approach to learning and artificial intelligence introduced by Holland, called the classifier system.

Using SOM in the performance monitoring of the emergency call-taking system

TL;DR: This paper describes a method for knowledge discovery and visualisation targeted at the performance analysis of the system with respect to the organisation of the emergency call-taking information system and its data characteristics based on the Kohonen Self-Organising Map algorithm and its extension, the Growing Grid algorithm.

Application of inclined planes system optimization on data clustering

TL;DR: In this article, a new clustering method based on the Inclined Planes system Optimization algorithm was proposed and evaluate on a series of standard datasets, which revealed a significant superiority over other similar clustering algorithms.

Immune-Like System Approach to Cellular Automata-Based Scheduling

TL;DR: In this paper, a program graph is considered as a cellular automata with elementary cells interacting locally according to a certain rule, and the purpose of the cell's interaction is to find an optimal task allocation starting from any initial task' allocation.

Challenges for artificial immune systems

TL;DR: It is argued that the field of Artificial Immune Systems (AIS) has reached an impass and immune inspired algorithms have been limited by the lack of theorectical advances, the adoption of a limited immune inspired approach and the limited application of AIS to hard problems.

Somatic generation of antibody diversity

TL;DR: In the genome of a germ-line cell, the genetic information for an immunoglobulin polypeptide chain is contained in multiple gene segments scattered along a chromosome which are assembled by recombination which leads to the formation of a complete gene.

A mathematical model illustrating the theory of turbulence

TL;DR: In this article, the application of statistical analysis and statistical mechanics to the problem of turbulent fluid motion has attracted much attention in recent years, and the authors investigated a complicated system of nonlinear equations, in order to find out enough about the properties of the solutions of these equations that insight can be obtained into the various patterns exhibited by the field and that data can be derived concerning the relative frequencies of these patterns in the hope that in this way a basis may be found for the calculation of important values.
