Journal ArticleDOI

Circularly permuted interleukin 4 retains proliferative and binding activity

TL;DR: It is concluded that while both native termini of IL-4 may be near its binding site, neither is required to be free for optimum activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemoprotection of hematopoietic cells by a mutant P-glycoprotein resistant to a potent chemosensitizer of multidrug-resistant cancers.

TL;DR: It is reported here that retroviral vectors encoding a mutant MDR1-F983A protect hematopoietic cells from anticancer drugs even in the presence of trans-(E)-flupentixol, an inhibitor of P-glycoprotein.
Journal ArticleDOI

Immunocytochemical localization in normal and transformed human cells in tissue culture using a monoclonal antibody to the src protein of the Harvey strain of murine sarcoma virus.

TL;DR: The loss of detectable localization at quiescence suggests that p21 levels decrease when these epithelial cells stop growing, and raises the possibility that an analog of p21 may be used by these human epithelium cells to regulate cell growth.
Journal ArticleDOI

Selective effects of MgCl2 and temperature on the initiation of transcription at lac, gal, and lambda promoters.

TL;DR: The studies suggest that the DNA of the lac and gal promoter regions is more resistant to denaturation than theDNA of phage promoter regions, and Cyclic AMP and CRP act to decrease this stability, stimulating open complex formation under conditions unfavorable for DNA melting.
