TL;DR: In this paper, Sunflower oil was produced by adding essential oil obtained from the peels of Punica granatum cv. Heyinshiliu (pomegranate, PPEO), which had significant antioxidant effects.
Abstract: The preparation of flavored oils using essential oils of spices is considered as an effective method to obtain oils with good oxidative stability and consumers’ acceptance. In the present study, the flavored sunflower oil was produced by adding essential oil obtained from the peels of Punica granatum cv. Heyinshiliu (pomegranate, PPEO), which had significant antioxidant effects. During the accelerated storage of sunflower oil at 65 °C for 30 days, PPEO at 800 ppm not only can restrain the increases of its acidity value (AV), peroxide value (PV), p-anisidine value (AnV) and total oxidation values (TOTOX), but also can inhibit the improvements of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), total polar compounds (TPC), and the absorbance at 232 nm (K232) and 268 nm (K268) of sunflower oil. In addition, the change of fatty acid composition was inhibited as well. Additionally, the sunflower oil flavored by PPEO had better flavor, taste, appearance and overall acceptability in the sensory evaluation. Therefore, sunflower oil flavored by PPEO could be developed as a condiment in the cooking.

TL;DR: A long-lasting chemiluminescence (CL) imaging sensor was constructed for the detection of OPs and d-AAs, where d-Ala in serum was used as a model to be detected by the proposed method.
Abstract: Organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) are harmful to people's health and d-amino acids (d-AAs) in the human body are closely related to various diseases. So, detection of OPs in foods and d-AAs in serum is important for food safety and clinical diagnosis. Herein, a long-lasting chemiluminescence (CL) imaging sensor was constructed for the detection of OPs and d-AAs. The method was based on N-(4-aminobutyl)-N-ethylisoluminol/Co2+/chitosan (ABEI/Co2+/CS) hydrogels, where metal organic framework materials (MOF-Pt) were selected as catalysts to improve the sensitivity greatly. Under the catalysis of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and choline oxidase (CHO), H2O2 was produced by using acetylcholine chloride (ACh) as a substrate, which was sensitive to the proposed CL system. OPs inhibited the activity of AChE and decreased the production of H2O2, reducing CL intensity. The linear range of the method for chlorpyrifos was 0.5 ng mL-1-1.0 μg mL-1, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.21 ng mL-1. Seventeen kinds of OPs can be visually and simultaneously discerned by the CL imager. On the other hand, d-AAs were catalyzed and oxidized by d-α-amino oxidase (DAAO) to produce H2O2. Thus, d-Ala in serum was used as a model to be detected by the proposed method. The linear range for d-Ala was 1.0 μM-10 mM, with an LOD of 0.12 μM.

TL;DR: In this paper, the phase composition and microstructure of V8C7 nanopowders were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
Abstract: Vanadium carbide (V8C7) nanopowders can be synthesized by thermal processing of the precursor of ammonium vanadate (NH4VO3) and nanometer carbon black. Effects of additives (CaF2, CeCl3·7H2O and LaCl3·7H2O) on the phase composition and microstructure of the synthesized powders were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that additives (CaF2, CeCl3·7H2O and LaCl3·7H2O) can accelerate the solid state reaction during synthesis of V8C7, and these additives play a vital role in determining the phase composition and microstructure. V8C7 powders with basically single phase can be synthesized at 1100 °C for 0.5 h with the addition of additives (CaF2, CeCl3·7H2O and LaCl3·7H2O), and the powders show good dispersion and are mainly composed of uniformly-sized spherical particles with a mean diameter of ∼50 nm. Further experiment shows that V8C7 powders can be prepared at 950 °C for 1 h with 1.0 wt% CaF2 as additive.
