Abstract: The Fermi surface of ${\mathrm{Bi}}_{2}$${\mathrm{Sr}}_{2}$${\mathrm{CaCu}}_{2}$${\mathrm{O}}_{8+\mathit{x}}$(001) has been mapped at nearly 6000 points in k space using angle-resolved photoemission at 300 K. We observe both features that are in good agreement with the local density calculation of Massidda, Yu, and Freeman [Physica (Amsterdam) 158C, 251 (1988)] and others that are missing in the calculation. Among those missing, most importantly, we find a c(2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2) superstructure on the Fermi surface strongly suggesting short range antiferromagnetic correlations. It is remarkable that this is evident in the metallic state and in the Fermi surface itself.

Abstract: The way in which business process models are typically deployed emphasizes their use in a high‐level design or the capture of an existing process. At these stages evaluation of the model takes place only in informal and rudimentary ways. The real evaluation effort begins only with the output of the design process, e.g. an implementation of information technology (IT) support system. Explores the benefits and feasibility of evaluating a process model at an early stage of its creation. Anticipates two advantages. First, errors or invalid design concepts are detected earlier with consequent savings in cost. Second, non‐IT‐relevant aspects can come to light at an appropriate stage. Looks first, at the value of modelling goals. Second, presents in outline a design method for modelling business processes in which the concept of the goal is fundamental. Third, looks beyond the current scope of this method to the issue of evaluating the process designs. Concludes that business process models can be evaluated at the design stage, but the knowledge gained is only partial. Summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of the approach and describes some open questions.

Abstract: Yeast members of the ORMDL family of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane proteins play a central role in lipid homeostasis and protein quality control. In the absence of yeast Orm1 and Orm2, accumulation of long chain base, a sphingolipid precursor, suggests dysregulation of sphingolipid synthesis. Physical interaction between Orm1 and Orm2 and serine palmitoyltransferase, responsible for the first committed step in sphingolipid synthesis, further supports a role for the Orm proteins in regulating sphingolipid synthesis. Phospholipid homeostasis is also affected in orm1Δ orm2Δ cells: the cells are inositol auxotrophs with impaired transcriptional regulation of genes encoding phospholipid biosynthesis enzymes. Strikingly, impaired growth of orm1Δ orm2Δ cells is associated with constitutive unfolded protein response, sensitivity to stress, and slow ER-to-Golgi transport. Inhibition of sphingolipid synthesis suppresses orm1Δ orm2Δ phenotypes, including ER stress, suggesting that disrupted sphingolipid homeostasis accounts for pleiotropic phenotypes. Thus, the yeast Orm proteins control membrane biogenesis by coordinating lipid homeostasis with protein quality control.

Abstract: Using heat conduction mechanism on a social network we develop a systematic method to predict missing values as recommendations. This method can treat very large matrices that are typical of internet communities. In particular, with an innovative, exact formulation that accommodates arbitrary boundary condition, our method is easy to use in real applications. The performance is assessed by comparing with traditional recommendation methods using real data.
