TLDR
Haploview is a software package that provides computation of linkage disequilibrium statistics and population haplotype patterns from primary genotype data in a visually appealing and interactive interface.
Abstract
Summary: Research over the last few years has revealed significant haplotype structure in the human genome. The characterization of these patterns, particularly in the context of medical genetic association studies, is becoming a routine research activity. Haploview is a software package that provides computation of linkage disequilibrium statistics and population haplotype patterns from primary genotype data in a visually appealing and interactive interface. Prediction of Response to Pegylated Interferon plus Ribavirin by IL28B Gene Variation in Patients Coinfected with HIV and Hepatitis C Virus

TL;DR: The association between rs12979860 and plasma low-density lipoprotein cholesterol suggests that the system low- density lipop Protein ligand/receptor might be involved in the effect of this genotype.

Macrophage Inhibitory Cytokine 1: A New Prognostic Marker in Prostate Cancer

TL;DR: Serum MIC-1 concentration is a novel biomarker capable of predicting prostate cancer prognosis and significantly increased the discriminative capacity between indolent and lethal prostate cancer compared with the established prognostic markers clinical stage, pathologic grade, and prostate-specific antigen level.

Toll-like receptor heterodimer variants protect from childhood asthma

TL;DR: Protective effects on atopic asthma were identified and results suggest that functional relevant TLR1 and TLR6 variants are directly involved in asthma development.

The International HapMap Project

- 18 Dec 2003 -
TL;DR: The HapMap will allow the discovery of sequence variants that affect common disease, will facilitate development of diagnostic tools, and will enhance the ability to choose targets for therapeutic intervention.

High-resolution haplotype structure in the human genome.

TL;DR: A high-resolution analysis of the haplotype structure across 500 kilobases on chromosome 5q31 using 103 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in a European-derived population offers a coherent framework for creating a haplotype map of the human genome.

Linkage disequilibrium in the human genome

TL;DR: The results illuminate human history, suggesting that LD in northern Europeans is shaped by a marked demographic event about 27,000–53,000 years ago, implying that LD mapping is likely to be practical in this population.

Association of the adam33 gene with asthma and bronchial hyperresponsiveness

- 01 Aug 2003 -
TL;DR: The identification and characterization of ADAM33, a putative asthma susceptibility gene identified by positional cloning in an outbred population, should provide insights into the pathogenesis and natural history of this common disease.
