HIV-1, hepatitis B virus, and risk of liver-related mortality in the Multicenter Cohort Study (MACS)

TLDR
Individuals coinfected with HIV-1 and HBV, especially those with low CD4+ nadir counts, are at increased risk for liver-related mortality, underscoring the importance of prevention, identification, and comprehensive management of hepatitis B in people infected withAIDS.

The prevalence liver function and immunologic status of children with hiv and hepatitis b virus coinfection in enugu, nigeria.

TL;DR: HBV co- Infection among HIV infected children is common in the authors' environment, and co-infection is associated with impaired immunity and probably liver enzyme derangement.

Naturally occurring antiviral drug resistance in HIV patients who are mono-infected or co-infected with HBV or HCV in China

TL;DR: HBV DRMs were more prevalent in HIV/HBV co‐infected patients in China, while DRMs in HCV and HIV patients did not differ, and dynamic surveillance of DRMs may be needed.

Upregulation of interleukin-27 expression is correlated with higher CD4+ T cell counts in treatment of naive human immunodeficiency virus-infected Chinese

TL;DR: The findings suggest that the elevated plasma IL-27 levels may play important role in slowing down the CD4+ T cell declining in HIV-infected individuals and the process of AIDS disease.

Risk of liver-associated morbidity and mortality in a cohort of HIV and HBV coinfected Han Chinese

TL;DR: Lamivudine-based cART was beneficial in terms of sustained HBV viral suppression and resulted in less incidence of ALDs, common among HIV and HBV coinfected Han Chinese patients.

Liver fibrosis progression in human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis C virus coinfected patients

TL;DR: In coinfected patients, a low CD4 count, alcohol consumption rate, and age at HCV infection are associated with a higher liver fibrosis progression rate, while HIV seropositivity accelerates HCV‐related liver Fibrosis progression.

Hepatotoxicity associated with antiretroviral therapy in adults infected with human immunodeficiency virus and the role of hepatitis C or B virus infection.

TL;DR: The data indicate that use of ritonavir may increase risk of severe hepatotoxicity, and does not support withholding protease inhibitor therapy from persons coinfected with hepatitis B or C virus.
