Background. In atopic asthma, activated T helper lymphocytes are present in bronchial-biopsy specimens and bronchoalveolar-lavage (BAL) fluid, and their production of cytokines may be important in the pathogenesis of this disorder. Different patterns of cytokine release are characteristic of certain subgroups of T helper cells, termed TH1 and TH2, the former mediating delayed-type hypersensitivity and the latter mediating IgE synthesis and eosinophilia. The pattern of cytokine production in atopic asthma is unknown. Methods. We assessed cells obtained by BAL in subjects with mild atopic asthma and in normal control subjects for the expression of messenger RNA (mRNA) for interleukin-2, 3, 4, and 5, granulocytemacrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), and interferon gamma by in situ hybridization with 32P-labeled complementary RNA. Flt-3 Ligand Reverses Late Allergic Response and Airway Hyper-Responsiveness in a Mouse Model of Allergic Inflammation
TL;DR: Treatment with Flt3-L of presensitized mice significantly suppressed the late allergic response, AHR, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid total cellularity, absolute eosinophil counts, and inflammation in the lung tissue, suggesting that Flt 3-L can reverse allergic airway inflammation and associated changes in pulmonary functions in murine asthma model.

Adrenocortical and Behavioral Predictors of Immune Responses to Starting School
TL;DR: School entry is a stressor capable of evoking elevations in cortisol and behavior problems, accompanied by shifts in functional and enumerative measures of immune status; and children with greater adrenocortical reactivity have increases in B cell numbers and less effective B cell-mediated antibody production, whereas children with more behavioral difficulties show declines in all T and B cell subsets.
