Hints of a second explosion (a quark nova) in Cassiopeia A Supernova

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the explosive transition of the neutron star to a quark star (QS) (a Quark Nova) in Cassiopeia A (Cas A) a few days following the SN proper can account for several of the puzzling kinematic and nucleosynthetic features observed.
Book ChapterDOI

Relativistic Stars, Gravitational Collapse, and Black Holes

TL;DR: The search for explanations of pulsars, quasars, Weber's gravitational wave pulses, X-ray sources and explosions in galactic nuclei has proved the crucial role which relativistic gravity plays in these frontier astrophysical phenomena as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Implication of existence of hybrid stars and theoretical expectation of submillisecond pulsars

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived the bulk viscous damping timescale of hybrid stars, neutron stars with quark matter core, and showed that the theoretical results are consistent with the rapid rotation pulsar data, which may give an indication for the existence of quark material in the interior of neutron stars.
Journal ArticleDOI

Crustal properties of a neutron star within an effective relativistic mean-field model

- 23 Feb 2022 -
TL;DR: HuHuang et al. as mentioned in this paper used the effective relativistic mean field (E-RMF) model to study the crustal properties of the neutron star. But they did not consider the density-dependent symmetry energy and slope parameter.
Journal ArticleDOI

The conversion from neutron stars to strange stars and its implications

TL;DR: In this article, the conversion from hot neutron stars to cold neutron stars with different equation of states (EOSs) for neutron matter was studied in a general relativistic numerical calculation.
