Journal ArticleDOI

Micro-Optical Sectioning Tomography to Obtain a High-Resolution Atlas of the Mouse Brain

TL;DR: An automated system that allowed three-dimensional mapping of the morphology and spatial location of neurons and traces of neurites in a whole, intact mouse brain is described and it is found that neighboring Purkinje cells stick to each other.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-throughput dual-colour precision imaging for brain-wide connectome with cytoarchitectonic landmarks at the cellular level

TL;DR: The results show that the simultaneous acquisition of labelled neural structures and cytoarchitecture reference in the same brain greatly facilitates precise tracing of long-range projections and accurate locating of nuclei.
Journal ArticleDOI

Generation of a whole-brain atlas for the cholinergic system and mesoscopic projectome analysis of basal forebrain cholinergic neurons.

TL;DR: The results suggest the existence of distinct subtypes of cholinergic neurons that serve different regulatory functions in the brain and illustrate the usefulness of complete reconstruction of neuronal distribution and axon projections at the mesoscopic level.
Journal ArticleDOI

Continuously tracing brain-wide long-distance axonal projections in mice at a one-micron voxel resolution.

TL;DR: A whole-brain approach to systematically obtaining continuous neuronal pathways in a fluorescent protein transgenic mouse at a one-micron voxel resolution is described, believed to open an avenue to exploring both local and long-distance neural circuits that are related to brain functions and brain diseases down to the neurite level.

A multimodal cell census and atlas of the mammalian primary motor cortex

Ricky S. Adkins, +247 more
- 07 Oct 2021 -
TL;DR: This study reveals a unified molecular genetic landscape of cortical cell types that congruently integrates their transcriptome, open chromatin and DNA methylation maps, and establishes a unified and mechanistic framework of neuronal cell type organization that integrates multi-layered molecular genetic and spatial information with multi-faceted phenotypic properties.
