TL;DR: The conditions for the growth of Fe, Cu, Ag, Ni, Co, Pt, and Au whiskers by reduction of their halides are described in this article, and it is shown, at least in the case of copper, that the whiskers grow from the tip, and there seems little doubt that the growth occurs by the condensation of freshly-formed metal vapor.

TL;DR: A microcomputer-based four-quadrant control system of a switched reluctance motor is described, which incorporates a startup operation, sequencing, and synchronized angle steering control.
Abstract: A microcomputer-based four-quadrant control system of a switched reluctance motor is described. The control was implemented with a speed feedback loop, a torque feedback loop, and both the torque and speed feedback loops combined. In addition the controller incorporates a startup operation, sequencing, and synchronized angle steering control. The angle controller was designed using dedicated digital hardware, whereas the other functions were implemented using an Intel 8751 single-chip microcomputer. The complete control system was tested in the laboratory with a 5-hp drive, and the test results were found to be excellent.

TL;DR: An analysis of this technique is extended to the case when a linear filter appears in the auxiliary signal path and a general solution to this problem is obtained.
Abstract: A technique known as a "multiple correlation cancellation loop" and also as the "LMS algorithm" is widely used in adaptive arrays for radar, sonar, and communications, as well as in many other signal processing applications. In this paper, an analysis of this technique is extended to the case when a linear filter appears in the auxiliary signal path. A general solution to this problem is obtained and several examples for narrowband and broad-band signals are presented.

TL;DR: In this article, numerical results for attenuation of centimeter waves by rainfall have been computed from J. W. Ryde's formula and compared with available measurements suggests that the agreement is not entirely satisfactory; there is a tendency for measured attenuations to exceed the maximum possible levels predicted by the theory.
Abstract: Numerical results for attenuation of centimeter waves by rainfall have been computed from J. W. Ryde's formula. These correct, and considerably extend, the previously published Ryde results. Comparison with available measurements suggests that the agreement is not entirely satisfactory; there is a tendency for measured attenuations to exceed the maximum possible levels predicted by the theory.
