TL;DR: The cone-complementarity-linearization procedure is employed to cast the controller-design problem into a sequential minimization one that is solved by the semi-definite program method.
Abstract: In this paper, the robust H∞-control problem is investigated for a class of uncertain discrete-time fuzzy systems with both multiple probabilistic delays and multiple missing measurements. A sequence of random variables, all of which are mutually independent but obey the Bernoulli distribution, is introduced to account for the probabilistic communication delays. The measurement-missing phenomenon occurs in a random way. The missing probability for each sensor satisfies a certain probabilistic distribution in the interval. Here, the attention is focused on the analysis and design of H∞ fuzzy output-feedback controllers such that the closed-loop Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy-control system is exponentially stable in the mean square. The disturbance-rejection attenuation is constrained to a given level by means of the H∞-performance index. Intensive analysis is carried out to obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of admissible output feedback controllers, which ensures the exponential stability as well as the prescribed H∞ performance. The cone-complementarity-linearization procedure is employed to cast the controller-design problem into a sequential minimization one that is solved by the semi-definite program method. Simulation results are utilized to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design technique in this paper.

TL;DR: An updated survey of palmprint recognition methods is provided, and a comparative study is presented to evaluate the performance of the state-of-the-art palm print recognition methods.
Abstract: Palmprint images contain rich unique features for reliable human identification, which makes it a very competitive topic in biometric research. A great many different low resolution palmprint recognition algorithms have been developed, which can be roughly grouped into three categories: holistic-based, feature-based, and hybrid methods. The purpose of this article is to provide an updated survey of palmprint recognition methods, and present a comparative study to evaluate the performance of the state-of-the-art palmprint recognition methods. Using the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU) palmprint database (version 2), we compare the recognition performance of a number of holistic-based (Fisherpalms and DCT+LDA) and local feature-based (competitive code, ordinal code, robust line orientation code, derivative of Gaussian code, and wide line detector) methods, and then investigate the error correlation and score-level fusion performance of different algorithms. After discussing the achievements and limitations of current palmprint recognition algorithms, we conclude with providing several potential research directions for the future.

TL;DR: In this paper, the nano-core effect is proposed through integrating core-effect with nano effect, and is proved by experimental evidences for the cementitious composites with different nano fillers.
Abstract: Nanoscale impact can bring big changes in micro-meso-macroscale behaviors of the composites. The addition of nano fillers makes cementitious materials stronger, more durable and multifunctional/smart. This paper aims at investigating the underlying mechanism for understanding and controlling the nano-engineered cementitious composites. The nano-core effect is proposed through integrating core-effect with nano effect, and is proved by experimental evidences for the cementitious composites with different nano fillers. The nano-core effect is closely relative to the intrinsic properties of nano fillers, composition and processing of the cementitious composites. The behaviors of the nano-engineered cementitious composites are governed by nano-core effect zone, i.e. nano-core-shell element. It is therefore concluded that the nano-core effect is fundamental for design, fabrication and application of the nano-engineered cementitious composites.
