TL;DR: This work presents the latest developments in the application of Hyperspectral technology to the inspection of the internal and external quality of fruits and vegetables.
Abstract: Artificial vision systems are powerful tools for the automatic inspection of fruits and vegetables. Typical target applications of such systems include grading, quality estimation from external parameters or internal features, monitoring of fruit processes during storage or evaluation of experimental treatments. The capabilities of an artificial vision system go beyond the limited human capacity to evaluate long-term processes objectively or to appreciate events that take place outside the visible electromagnetic spectrum. Use of the ultraviolet or near-infrared spectra makes it possible to explore defects or features that the human eye is unable to see. Hyperspectral systems provide information about individual components or damage that can be perceived only at particular wavelengths and can be used as a tool to develop new computer vision systems adapted to particular objectives. In-line grading systems allow huge amounts of fruit or vegetables to be inspected individually and provide statistics about the batch. In general, artificial systems not only substitute human inspection but also improve on its capabilities. This work presents the latest developments in the application of this technology to the inspection of the internal and external quality of fruits and vegetables.

TL;DR: An overview of recent developments in the determination of FQs in solid environmental matrices is presented and the risks and challenges which result from their presence in soil are described.
Abstract: Fluoroquinolones (FQs) are among the most important antibacterial agents used in human and veterinary medicine. Because of the growing practice of adding manure and sewage sludge to agricultural fields these drugs end up in soils, where they can accumulate and have adverse effects on organisms. This paper presents an overview of recent developments in the determination of FQs in solid environmental matrices and describes the risks and challenges (persistence, fate, effects, and remediation) which result from their presence in soil.

TL;DR: The best model was one in which only response criteria and the nondecisional components of processing changed between the 2 variants, supporting the view that the core information on which decisions are based is not different between them.
Abstract: In this article, the first explicit, theory-based comparison of 2-choice and go/no-go variants of 3 experimental tasks is presented. Prior research has questioned whether the underlying core-information processing is different for the 2 variants of a task or whether they differ mostly in response demands. The authors examined 4 different diffusion models for the go/no-go variant of each task along with a standard diffusion model for the 2-choice variant (R. Ratcliff, 1978). The 2-choice and the go/no-go models were fit to data from 4 lexical decision experiments, 1 numerosity discrimination experiment, and 1 recognition memory experiment, each with 2-choice and go/no-go variants. The models that assumed an implicit decision criterion for no-go responses produced better fits than models that did not. The best model was one in which only response criteria and the nondecisional components of processing changed between the 2 variants, supporting the view that the core information on which decisions are based is not different between them.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present twelve cases of Pneumocystis Carinii Pneumonia (PCP) hospitalized at the Internal Medicine Service of the Hospital Clinico de Valencia between 1989 and 1990.
Abstract: We present twelve cases of Pneumocystis Carinii Pneumonia (PCP) hospitalized at the Internal Medicine Service of the Hospital Clinico de Valencia between 1989 and 1990. All patients were infected by HIV-1, with ages between 25 and 32 years, with circulating CD4 lymphocytes lower than 25% or 200 cells per cubic millimeter and with positive p24 antigen. Ten of them were parenterally drug addicts and two of them, homosexuals. Diagnosis was made by fibrobronchoscopy (FB) with bronchoaspiration (BAS) and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), or sputum induced by physiological serum aerosol at three per cent, using in both cases blue tinction with toluidine 0 of the samples obtained. Given the foreseeable increase of this disease in our country, we stress the risk of a potential change in its clinical spectrum, affecting new population groups, mainly the elderly, as well as the development of new early diagnosis techniques and the emergence of new treatments, including corticotherapy.
