TL;DR: Both the traditional Mediterranean diet and a low-fat diet exerted beneficial effects on BP and could be part of advice to patients for controlling BP, however, lower values of diastolic BP were found in the two groups promoting the Mediterranean diet with extra virgin olive oil or with nuts than in the control group.
Abstract: Background Hypertension can be prevented by adopting healthy dietary patterns. Our aim was to assess the 4-year effect on blood pressure (BP) control of a randomized feeding trial promoting the traditional Mediterranean dietary pattern.

TL;DR: In this article, Monte Carlo simulation methods were used to estimate the flux of neutrinos from the beam line incident on the MiniBooNE detector for both polarities of the focusing horn.
Abstract: The booster neutrino experiment (MiniBooNE) searches for {nu}{sub {mu}}{yields}{nu}{sub e} oscillations using the O(1 GeV) neutrino beam produced by the booster synchrotron at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory). The booster delivers protons with 8 GeV kinetic energy (8.89 GeV/c momentum) to a beryllium target, producing neutrinos from the decay of secondary particles in the beam line. We describe the Monte Carlo simulation methods used to estimate the flux of neutrinos from the beam line incident on the MiniBooNE detector for both polarities of the focusing horn. The simulation uses the Geant4 framework for propagating particles, accounting for electromagnetic processes and hadronic interactions in the beam line materials, as well as the decay of particles. The absolute double differential cross sections of pion and kaon production in the simulation have been tuned to match external measurements, as have the hadronic cross sections for nucleons and pions. The statistical precision of the flux predictions is enhanced through reweighting and resampling techniques. Systematic errors in the flux estimation have been determined by varying parameters within their uncertainties, accounting for correlations where appropriate.

TL;DR: It is concluded that the flavonoids chalcone, 2'(OH)-chal cone, 2',4'( OH)(2)-chalcone and 2,4(OH)(2-chalcone) might constitute promising therapeutic agents against infections with methicillin-resistant S. aureus strains.

TL;DR: High pressure treatment has shown encouraging potential to manipulate the functionality, extractability, allergenicity and bioavailability of micronutrients and components in a diverse variety of foods, but the underlying principles and mechanisms are not yet fully understood and warrant further investigation.

TL;DR: A correlation between age‐associated impairment of cell metabolism and specific changes in mitochondrial function and morphology is shown, for the first time in intact cells, supporting the hypothesis that mitochondrial damage plays a key role in aging.
