TLDR
Proteoglycan monomer (D1) and aggregate (A1) preparations were isolated from 4 M guanidinium chloride extracts of the Swarm rat chondrosarcoma and contained only small proteoglycan fragments, indicating that extensive enzymatic degradation had occurred.

Stimulation of sulfated-proteoglycan synthesis by forskolin in monolayer cultures of rabbit articular chondrocytes.

TL;DR: These results implicate activation of adenylate cyclase as a regulatory event in the biosynthesis of cartilage proteoglycans, and more specifically in the production of hydrodynamically larger glycosaminoglyCans.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of proteoglycan on experimental colitis

TL;DR: The difference in the survival rates indicated that the onset of mouse colitis induced by DSS was inhibited by administration of the PG, which was extracted from nasal cartilage of salmon head with 4% acetic acid.

Extracellular Matrix (ECM) Proteoglycans Produced by Cultured Bovine Corneal Endothelial Cells

TL;DR: The nature of the proteoglycan(s) (PG) found in the extracellular matrix (ECM) layer produced by cultured bovine corneal endothelial (BCE) cells is analyzed and a protein moiety accounting for 45% of the weight and carbohydrates-glycosaminoglycans (GAG) accounting for the remaining 55%.

Cartilage aggrecan undergoes significant compositional and structural alterations during laryngeal cancer.

TL;DR: The authors' data demonstrated a stage-related loss of aggregable aggrecan in AANCs, compared to the healthy laryngeal cartilage (HLC), which was excessive in advanced stages of disease, indicating the crucial role of Aggrecan during LSCC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of link proteins and a 116,000-Dalton matrix protein in canine meniscus

TL;DR: Several noncollagenous proteins, including the link proteins and a 116,000-Da subunit protein, which was recently described in articular cartilage, were found in meniscal cartilage.

A modified uronic acid carbazole reaction

TL;DR: It has been found possible to distinguish betweenHeparin, heparin derivatives, and other polyuronides of connective tissue by comparing the effect of chlorides on the color yield in both procedures by modifying Dische's carbazole reaction for uronic acid in the presence of borate.

Enzymatic Methods for the Determination of Small Quantities of Isomeric Chondroitin Sulfates

TL;DR: Micromethods have been developed and 35S-labeled chondroitin sulfates A, B, and C in a given mixture have been precisely and rapidly determined by measuring radioactivity alone.
