TLDR
Proteoglycan monomer (D1) and aggregate (A1) preparations were isolated from 4 M guanidinium chloride extracts of the Swarm rat chondrosarcoma and contained only small proteoglycan fragments, indicating that extensive enzymatic degradation had occurred.

Aggregation of Proteoglycans in Cephalic, Epiphyseal and Articular Cartilages in Growing Sheep

TL;DR: During the first 2 months of postnatal development the proportion of proteoglycans isolated as aggregates tripled in the articular and mandibular condylar cartilage, it decreased substantially in the anterior and posterior nasal septum, while it decreased slightly in the other cartilages.

Somite chondrogenesis: alterations in cyclic AMP levels and proteoglycan synthesis.

TL;DR: The results indicate that a decrease in cAMP levels may be necessary for chondrogenic expression in somites, and the aggregation of proteoglycans was analyzed by gel chromatography and found to increase with a corresponding decrease incAMP levels.

Chondroitin sulphate proteoglycans in the vitreous gel of sheep and goat.

TL;DR: The findings showed that, firstly, the CS content and the hydrodynamic size of the CS chain and the sulphation pattern of CS chains from versican and collagen IX in both sheep and goat vitreous gels are PG type-dependent.

The epidermal growth factor-like domain of the large proteoglycans from articular cartilage (aggrecans). Estimate of content at different ages and in osteoarthritis

TL;DR: Variations in the amount of newly synthesized aggrecan, in the proteolysis of the carboxy terminal domain of aggrecans and in the alternating splicing of the EGF-like domain might explain the results shown here.
